When I got home tonight I went to check on the joey I have been handraising since 3 days oop. She was recently moved into a cage and when I came home she was outside of the cage and just her leg was inside. I have no idea how long she was like that. I picked her up and she is unresponsive. I did a tent test and she was dehydrated so I gave her some sub-q fluids and the tent test is fine now, however she is seizing in my hand and unresponsive... her little feet and hands are clenched tight and I think this is the end. Is there anything else I can do for her. The nearest vet that is open is an hour away and I don't think she will make it without some intervention before that. She is literally sprawled out on her back with her arms and legs out like she is gliding and she isn't moving but she is still breathing that I can see. There are no obvious broken bones or anything like that. I;m going to leave here very shorly to head to the vet but i just needed to check here and see if anyone had any suggestions if there was anything that I could do before i left here...

I hope someone with more advice comes along. You may want to try pedialyte if you have some on hand. If not, get her to vet asap.

I'm so sorry you're going through this.

i did give her some pedialyte I tried that before the sub-q and she pretty much choked on it...she started blowing bubbles... I don't think shes gonna make it, shes only taking about 10 breaths a minute...

Just make sure that she is kept warm - wrap her up in fleece. Bring some pedialyte, or any kind of liquids or liquidy fruit with you. You did right by giving her fluids. I hope that your on your with to the vets. Sending your lots of prayers.

Jessica, don't just wrap her in fleece, she can't generate her own body heat, put her in your shirt or something, you have to warm her. good luck!

My precious little baby Semper, didn't make it. I feel so guilty...I feel like such a horrible glider mom...I should have taken her with me but I was WAY too hot out...I should have come home earlier...

Thanks everyone, the love, thoughts and prayers, from you guys is what's going to help me get through this. I know deep down I did everything I could, but I can't help feeling guilty. There will always be the shoulda, woulda, coulda's. At least I got six precious unforgettable weeks with her, she was my little baby...I think the hardest part is that other than going to work, this was the first time she wasn't with me when I went somewhere, but it was 100 degrees out today and I knew I would be outside most of the day...so I figured she would be better off at home where it wouldn't be as hot...

DANG IT!!!! cry Jessica, I am so, so sorry for you. I saw the thread title on the emergency forum and I prayed not another suggie would die, not today...

You tried to do the right thing and had that little one on your mind while you did. she had the best surrogate mother anyone could have asked for. you cared enough about this little helpless baby to give her six weeks of the best life she could know. don't let guilt cloud the happiness you had while she was with you. every action you took in this little angel's life has made you an angel yourself.

hug2 hug2 hug2 she's waiting for you on the other side of the bridge

Jess, I am so very sorry. You couldn't possible know any of this would happen and you could not have taken her, it was too hot. If I can do anything, please don't hesitate to ask. Godspeed little one....your mommy loves you with all her heart.

Jessica, my heart cries with yours. Just because she belongs to you, doesn't mean the rest of us don't love her as much. We all feel your pain and wish we could take it away for you. We cant but know that you are not alone. We all share your pain. I'm so very sorry for your loss. cry heart gangel hug2 upset

Thanks Guys, it has been a rough week, adjusting to her not being here, but I have lots of fuzzbutts to keep my mind off it, and I need to get her sister ready for her new home so that is taking alot of my time. She is definitely missed and made a huge impact on my life in the short time she was with me and I will never forget her.
