My glider passed away recently. (See earlier post) The autopsy revealed a large mass on the liver that the vet felt was malignant. I was afraid that the cause of death wasn't cancer (she was only three) and had a biopsy done. It turns out that the tumor was benign- but it did cause her death. The mass grew until it put pressure on the Vena Cava. This, in turn, caused another problem: a blood clot in the kidney. She was able to function just fine with the tumor and pressure, but once the blood clot occurred, nothing could be done. I miss her terribly, but am relieved to find out that there was nothing I could have done differently that would have changed things, and that she didn't die of something her cagemate could contract. Rest in Peace my Smei Fry. Smei: "To be happy, laugh, a miracle, to smile."

Amy, I am glad you had the biopsy done so at least your mind can rest at ease. I'm so sorry that Smei passed but you did all you could for her and now she's at peace. You'll see her again when the time is right.
