How do you know when your glider is truly bonded?

Gliders are never really truely bonded with their owners...everyday, you're bonding more in different ways. dunno

But for me, I knew I was bonded with my gliders when my male would look to me to come get him if he was too lazy to come down and just wanted to be on me. He also comes back to me everytime I tell him to, no matter what he's doing or where he is. He's such a momma's boy. And for my girlie, it was when she kept licking my arm a couple nights ago and put her head down on my arm to look up at me...she wanted me to pet her and scratch her head sooo badly. She kept waving her tail around a lot while she was on me too. I can't really hold her (not a cuddly type) but she'll let me kiss her on the head with no problems at all.

I taught mine that when I pat my chest or shoulder, they come back to me. You have to be consistent. smile

I wish I had an easy answer for you, but a bond between a person and a glider is going to be different for each person and glider. It will depend partially on the temperment and natural behaviors of a particular glider as well as how you handle them (and how often) as to what kind of bond you will form. I know that isn't really what you were looking for, but I have 6 gliders and can (and do) expect them all to act/react in slightly different ways - I have a different relationship with each one, but all are rewarding.

My lil man just comes back to me if I say "c'mere Yang" and, I put my arm infront of him and say "up" and he comes up. They both go in their pouch if I hold it up near them and say "in." Just weird lil tricks that my kids do. One of their other 2 previous owners probably taught him to come and go up and stuff.

But, I did the pouch. I'd hold one pouch up to the other and as I was toothpasting them out towards the other pouch, I'd say "in" and then give them a treat once they got inside the pouch. dunno

You can always try something and if they don't like it or aren't ready, they'll let you know. I always did things several times (and for several hours) in the safety of the house before venturing out. If you are consistent and are getting a consistent reaction (or non-reaction depending on what you are doing) then you can try going out for short periods. Once you are comfortable with that, you can make your outings longer.

Quincy doesn't like to be picked up or held in my hands, but in tent time, he's all over me...when I go into the cage, he crawls up my arm. Renny is slowly learning to do the same things...she likes sitting on my head in the tent (her favorite spot) and to be petted but I've never tried to pick her up. Her former owners told me that she liked being held by them, but for now I am taking it slow.

Everyones right...it's different for every owner and their suggies.

Am I confident any of my gliders won't jump off me and get into trouble? No, esp Jay & Silent Bob...they are still a work in progress for me. I can pet them and hand feed them, but in tent time, they pay me no attention lol...they like exploring the tent more, which is fine with me. As long as they are happy.
