Magical,

They should, ideally, be 1/2" by 1/2" squares, but if it's a bird cage they'll probably be 1/2" strips.

[:"green"]Cockatiel cages work well as long as the bars are at most 1/2" apart. Any wider, and your gliders will become escapees running loose around the house . I use cockatiel cages for all of my gliders with no problem - they have 3/8" bar spacing.

They most definately can get through 1" openings! Half inch is the largest the spacing should be.

Judge not until you have walked in their shoes and lived their lives. What you see online is only part of the story.

DEFINETELY get another cage!!!!!!

I had the pleasant experience of herding multiple gliders back to their cage... multiple times this week

If they can get out- there's no stoppin' em!

1 inch is way too big... Remember the general rule of thumb for most animals: If they can get their head through, their bodies will follow. It's better to be safe rather than sorry.

Good luck with the cage!

I know what you mean... Star got here at 8 weeks OOP and she was a fatty b/c her previous owner didn't have her on a complete or researched diet.
