well i had an experience yesterday..lol..when i went into bucklie and milos cage to do themorning clean up, i saw lil furries all over..and i thought bucklie was going bald (hes the smaller on, milo messes with him sometimes), so i was [censored] out.but i didnt want to wake them. i was going to wait until they get up to check on bucklie, then i looked up..and saw the fleece blanket i have on the top of there cage was missing fluffies..lol they pulled all the lil hairs off the blanket and thats what i saw, not bucklies hair.. , to funny..but n e way..i like to keep a blanket over the top of there cage b/c the a/c vent is above them and i want to keep them warm..what type of blanket/sheet would work the best?? i tired a towel but there lil nails get stuck, and well i cant say i wanna use the fleece again..=)

I have heard they will do that, and yes, towels are a big no no. I'd try a good sheet, with a nice tight weave. Just glad to hear little Bucklie was fine. sounds like they were bored last night

you can use a sheet (nice good quality, 180 thread count or higher works for me) with a blanket or fleece on top of that if you need extra warmth.

I've had the same problem with Stryder picking fuzz off a blanket. I did try a sheet one night, but that wasn't a good solution for him. I got up the next morning, started to uncover his cage and saw he had pulled part of it in through the front bars. Started pulling the sheet out through the bars and was having trouble getting it back out. I thought it had gotten wadded up, so pulled a little harder, looked down and saw Stryder's tail and little pink nose sticking through the bars with the sheet. He had decided to do some home improvements and made his own pouch out of the sheet. Had to do some backtracking, pull the sheet back into his cage and get him out. Needless to say I don't use the sheet anymore. I did go back to the blanket. He still pulls fuzzies off of it (not as much as he used to), but I don't think he eats it and haven't seen any ill effects from it.

People make covers for cages, so maybe that would be the solution. I don't want to get one at this time because I really want to get a larger cage for Stryder.

Anmaw, Gimli did that one night, gave me a heart attack! Why is the tail on this side of the cage! If you use a sheet, you can use clothes pins to keep them from pulling it in. Drape the sheet over the top, pin the front corners, then pull the back and sides tight, tenting kind of on the two corners, then pin at the corners. They can't pull that in.

USMom - Good idea for securing the sheet, but "What are clothespins?" Haven't used those in many a year, got to used to a dryer. Plastic clips you use for chip bags might not be strong enough. Guess I could use a metal clip that you get from office supply companies, etc., they are pretty strong. I'll have to try that.

I think for the most part when Stryder does it, he's doing busy work - taking care of his home, looking for something to do. Guess that's something I need to work at so he has something more suitable to occupy his time during the night. At the same time, it makes you wonder about the fleece pouches are made of - why don't they pull at it?
