Most feed their gliders in the evening about the time they would normally be waking up for the night. Some feed later after they have had play time with their gliders. I normally feed mine about 10pm....sometimes earlier, sometimes later but I try to be consistant. I know some that feed as early as 6-7pm. Gliders will often get up, eat a bit and then go back to bed for a nap before getting up to eat more and to play. The best thing is to get into a routine and try to stick with it. That way the gliders will know what to expect and when and are more likely to learn trust easier. This goes with feeding, playing, bonding time, etc.

Ok, thanks, I'll ask the owner what time she feeds him, so he can stay on schedule.

My gliders get up around 7:30 to eat for about half an hour. Then they go back in their pouch for an hour to groom. Then they are up around 9:00 to play. I like to have their food in the cage when they wake.

So I just place the food in there dish, before they get up? Or can I feed them by hand when they are up? Thanks.

either, but you should put the staple food (zookeepers secret etc.) in the bowl and leave it in there and discard any leftovers and put fresh food in it the next night.

but you should put the staple food (zookeepers secret etc.) in the bowl and leave it in there and discard any leftovers and put fresh food in it the next night. That depends on what diet is being fed. Many diets like BML do not have a pelleted (like zookeepers) portion to the diet plan and you don't want to mix diets as it can throw off the ratios.

Happy chow? What is that? With HPW, you don't need a pellet staple. Just the HPW, and fruits and veggies. Adding to the diet will throw off the balance of the diet. Oh, and the occassional treat of meal worms, or yogies. But, no dry pellet food with HPW.

I feed our gliders at 9:pm in the summer then by fall edge to about 8:pm then 7:pm in the winter..back to 8:pm in the spring. They are so used to it they are all up by those times precisely. LOL
