I have had Gizmo for a little over 2 months now...we are securely bonded...during the day I get constant kisses. In fact, if I'm with him at home, he refuses to sleep in his bonding pouch because he'd rather sleep on my chest in his baby blanket....he never, ever bites during the day, and has taken to even grooming me at least 3 times a day...needless to say, I adore him, and he's very affectionate towards me....when he's out in the morning hours, he's all about sitting on my shoulder playing with my hair and running up and down my back....HOWEVER, when he wakes up for the night (at about 10:30pm), he turns very aggressive...it's almost impossible to hold playtime because he bites viciously, hard enough to draw blood....I can't "Take the Bite" because I (and my fiance) would constantly be wrapping up bloody fingers...distracting him with food doesn't work half the time, he ignores it and bites anyway....he'll bite anything...skin, clothes etc....what can I do so I can actually HAVE playtime...every time I try, I end up having to put him in his cage after 15 minutes or so because he's biting WAY too hard....HELP!!!!!

You need to start paying close attention to what is making him bite. Is there a certain smell on you that he doesn't like? or have you recently fed him from your fingers and the food smell is still on them? or do you have the smell of other gliders/animals on you? Whenever I handle my gliders I use the same soap to wash my hands before I do. That way when I come at them, I smell the same each time. You may also want to try rubbing your ahnds on his pouch before playtime so you already smell like him. For playtime I always put on a fresh t-shirt or the same t-shirt that I wore the night before during playtime. And after I feed licky treats or mealies I wash my hands otherwise my gliders can still smell it on my hands and will nibble at my fingers for more. Just the other night I went in to play with my gliders and my little girl kept attacking my hair. I relized that I had been bar-b-quing chicken that night and probably smelled different to her and she didn't like it. Gliders really get to know you by your scent (hence why the fleece blankies/t-shirts with your smell on them and wearing them in a bonding pouch with you is so important). I don't think it's a lack of bonding because it sounds like you do spend a great deal of time with your glider, but you are just going to have to watch for some kind of pattern of what is making him bite. I do fid it odd though that he is biting so hard. Most gliders will nibble or munch on your inquisitively, but for a full--on bite that draws blood something has to be upsetting or hurting him.

My gliders love to nibble, maybe they think I have tree sap in me or something. I think alot of them nibbling is just them trying to do a "natural" part of getting nectar from the branch! haha... I just give them a treat first thing during playtime and encourage good behavior.. try using toys and stuff to stimulate their minds and get it off of biting Good Luck

Have you done tent time? Just watch TV as he plays on you rather than with you so that you are still bonding. He will still know you are there to comfort him, but he can also do his own thing and stretch his legs while he runs around and jumps around the tent and his toys. It could just be his way of playing, but I know it hurts and you want to find out other ways to see if there are reasons as to why he does this. Good luck! Stock up on those bandaids!

I did what Tina and Ben suggested...I merely spread his toys out all over the bathroom, brought a book with me, sat down on the bathroom floor and let him go for it. He LOVES hiding in the towels hanging from our towel rack, and then jumping down on my shoulder. He bites way way less when I let him just use me as a means to get where he wants to go, instead of trying to constantly play WITH him. He plays around the bathroom with his toys and baby blanket, and then comes back up to my shoulder for some snuggles...wow, I adore him.....wayyyyy too cute
