Is Paulie rope ok for making toys?

I've never seen or heard of it before and I'm trying to order toy making supplies online & that is the rope recommended for the beads.

Is it like that plastic-y nylon type rope that you use to make lanyard thingies with?

Oh yeah- if this rope isn't good- what is the best kind to use for stringing beads & stuff?

I guess it would be ok, they might chew on it. I use leather cord for my coco swings and stuff adn they havent chewed that down yet, it works well.

I see Paulie rope recommended but when i asked awhile ago- I was told regular lanyard cord can stretcha dn get chewed through.. someone suggested using satin ribbon- works well, and the gliders love it!

No prob Kristy... now if only someone would come along that knew the answer!

Does anyone use Paulie rope or rayon cord? We'd like to know about these two specifically- if someone has used them before and if they are glider safe.

Thanks!

I know callejean sells the paulie rope, or used too.. I think you can find it in her toy making supplies? Might have been on her bird site.. I cant remember now. I would email her and see if she has used it on glider toys, and what she might recomend?
callejean.com

I have never used it myself, so i really have no clue. Dont believe i have ever seen it in person either. Maybe you could purchase a sample 1yd piece and see how it ties and if nails could get caught, etc... ??

The stuff that I've been using is called Rexlace. It is found in craft areas of department stores and there are a lot of colors to choose from. It is plastic and yes it does stretch but I haven't found that to be a problem. It is also quite cheap so I figured if the suggies want to bite it and break it, no big deal, I'll just restring it. I got a huge roll (100 yards) of it in white at Michaels on sale for 1 or 2 dollars. It also states directly on it that it is non-toxic. It is found around the kids craft area at Michaels and I believe it is the same stuff as lanyard cord. It is not hollow though so?? Oh, and it's made by the Pepperell Company if that helps. I thought about using ribbon as well but figured it would get stinky. Someone posted that it was not a problem though cause you can just throw it in the wash. Anyway, enough rambling, I hope this helps. I've made lots of stuff using the Rexlace - it is really great for beading stuff. Oh, also, they like the practice golf balls that you can get either at Walmart or the dollar store. Those are the hollow white or orange ones with holes in them. Good Luck crafting and if you get any great ideas please share. We love crafting at our house but unfortunately usually need a plan to follow!! One last tip - when tying off the end of the cord don't cut it off - instead, rethread it back up through the beads. This eliminates the chances of it coming undone. Speaking of done, I believe I finally am

lol Thanks! I've seen rexlace online but am just so confused on all these different ropes/laces/strings/etc!

I can't wait to get some stuff & just [censored] around with it!

Thanks for the tip about stringing it back up the beads I wouldn't have thought of that!

I dot eh string back through thing with the ribbon.. I thought about rexlace but our girls are chewers and they only chewed open one of the beaded things I did with ribbon and thats because they chewed through the knot, since then they haven't chewed on any of the ribbons that I can tell!

I use a lot of "safe" ribbon. My suggies don't chew through it. But Little Bit loves to untie knots and throw pony beads.
