i live in new orleans,
so obviously there is some chance of a hurricane here.
there is supposed to be a tropical storm or something tomorrow, i don't think it's going to be too bad but then who knows?

anyway, it got me thinking, what would I do if I had to evacuate with my gliders?
anybody have any tips or a list of stuff I should have or ideas etc. about how to take care of them if I have to evacuate?

You should get some good answers on that shortly. One of our members had to evacuate after Katrina. It's great you are thinking ahead!

make sure you take anything that the gliders will need. Extra food, pouches.. what ever you have. I live in Central Florida where this storm just sat over us forever it seemed like. It kept stalling ontop of us. Use a travel cage for the traveling portion of the evac, and re-set them up when you get where you are going. Just make sure that you have everything you use now, and extra of it. is the best advice I can give.

I would say making an extra emergancey kit for your gliders plus whatever you feel is needed. Even adding a small/medium claspiable cage would help.

I have enough food in my emergency kit for at least a week - chicken and gravy baby food along with several different baby food fruits and some baby food mixed veggies, dehydrated treats too. I do want to get small emergency travel cages too, most likely small reptariums.

i have a bird cage that i was going to use.

it's pretty small,
but they can stand to be in a small cage for a little while, right?

While the small cage might cause them some stress...being left behind during an emergency evacuation isn't an option...right? So...the bird cage will do.

I LOVE having some repts though. They break down, can be stored in a duffle bag with toys, emergency food supplies and all so you can just grab the bag and go...

65 gallon repts work great for emergency or travel cages.

Judge not until you have walked in their shoes and lived their lives. What you see online is only part of the story.
