Just wanted to give a hint to everyone looking for supplies to buy toys...Unicornlass recommended this site, and it's GREAT! They have plastic chain, bells, all sorts of beads and links, and lots of other neat stuff. And the prices are really reasonable (plastic chain is 40 cents per foot, bells are ten for 3.00, etc.).
I actually ordered about $25 worth of supplies last night! So far these people have been great to work with
I actually mentioned in an email that their site was going around on GC & she'd probably get a bunch of orders... here's what she said:
Quote:
I had been wondering why all of a sudden I kept getting numerous orders that all were kind of the same, lots of 3/4" chain etc LOL. That explains it. sounds like you sugar glider people are just as nuts as we bird people LOL.
Yeah, from the site it looked like those people really loved their birds. It seems like all people who are really passionate about their pets are kind of alike.

so true- I have a bird friend I shared the site with too.. I ordered 33$ worth at lunch (and a 50$ order for wunder chain from callejeans too...) I have 3/4" chain, the wonder chain is thinner, and I want that in this case for some major projects I have coming up, so that came seperately, besides it works out to about the same per foot!
I hope the stuff gets here soon!

You guys are very welcome! Really, thanks is due to Unicornlass...she posted the site in another thread. Once I got there and spent 70.00 on a BUNCH of toy supplies, I felt it deserved its own thread.

(blush) Kristy, thank you. I was just sharing a site that honestly I thought would be old news here. So many crafty people here.
I spent $60 my first visit, it would have been more but they didn't have the wood pages up and running yet. I am trying to find small mini swivel clips(like the kind on dog leashes). I found 1/2 inch nickle plated regular ones. I like also that the site shows you pictures of ideas for the pieces to help get your creative juices flowing .
I found that alot of bird toys are interchangable with glider toys and visa versa, there are all kinds of homemade bird toys ideas, another site I like is the Frugal Parrot. They have pages of ideas and instructions for making toys. I also have cockatiels.
Sadly though the best toy my gliders have gotten to date is a toilet paper roll with a few sheets left on it. Put me and hubby in stitches watching them tear it up and drag it around and squabble over it. Needless to say it didn't survive the night.
The things we do for our spoiled children .
Hey if your looking for those mini swivel clips go to ebay and go to Welden's Pet Supplies ebay store. They have those mini swivel clips and other toy making parts and they are great to do business with. They also sell the cutest pouches. You can either buy the items as a "buy it now" or bid on them and wait for the auction to end. I spend way to much money on that sight!

I got my order from Rockport last night. WOOHOO am going crazy with ideas and fun stuffs. They even threw in a few freebie pieces . Made a bird/glider bonding necklace. It originally was for my Teils but when the sugies had a blast playing with it I figured why not. Just took some of the 3/4 chain and tied some beads, toys, trinkets on it. I connect it with a quick link and just wear it around my neck. The gliders were "hunting" the different little things on it .
I have to tell you all about this toy I made for my girls lol.I went to our local dollar store and bought abunch of bowls (cereal type ) and glasses alll plastic. I took them home and broke out my trusty glue gun. I took 2 bowls and hot glued them together then cut 2 holes in them one on the side and one in the bottom. I took ping pong balls and ran curly ribbon thru the holes and popped it inside. I also added some bells on the ribbons. then I attatched keys and more ribbon and chain .It looks like a big acorn. I hung it from the middle of the cage and my girls will pout if I try to take it out. It moves alot so it is like a new toy all the time. etting in and out is always like a game.Especially if they are both playing at once. I make toys for my birds as well as the suggies so I am always looking for new ideas. I will try to attatcha pic of the acorn they love it.

If you go to Weldens Pet Supply Store on Ebay and click on the "Hardware, Hairclips go to the second page of hardware and they have the tiny swivel clips 1 1/8" 10 for $4.00, 25 for $7.50 or 50 for $12.50. Donna
