I would never put gliders in the "smallest cage possible", but I currently have my gliders in the smallest cage that I feel is acceptable. The cages that I use for my pairs are 1.5 feet deep, 1.5 feet wide, and 3 feet tall. Depending on the type of cage you prefer, there are several cages in this size range. The best place to pick up a cage in on e-bay. Do a search for "reptariums" (what I have), flight cages, and bird cages. Those will give you a few differnt types to choose from.

thanks. i just figured that i want them to be comfortable in the cage but i dont want it to take too much space in the house and they will barely be in there anyways since i want to have them with me at all times in the morning and when i get home from work.

thanks

Even though your gliders will spend little time during the day in their cage, they will still be spending most of their waking hours in their cage. Keep that in mind when you buy your cage...

[:"green"]The cages that I use are considered "small" by the glider-world, in general, but they work quite well for me & my gliders. They are 3' tall, 2' wide and 18" deep. They are actually made for cockatiels and they work quite well for the gliders. I wouldn't go any smaller than these, though, because if you do, they won't have room to run & jump at night when they're wide awake.

If you are going to buy a bird cage please make sure that it is either PVC or Epoxy coated wire. It is really bad to keep a glider in a bare metal cage, even if it is supposed to be rust proof. Check out the cage info in the links section at the top of the page.
Best of luck with your new venture.

I currently have 3 gliders in a 3 wide, 2.5 deep, and 5 tall. I believe that it takes a lot of room in my office, but can't imagine going any smaller. Instead of thinking how small you can get a cage that would be acceptable, I always tell people with birds and gliders, "get the biggest one you can possibly afford." You can always rearrange your furniture. LOL I live in a 1 bedroom with my boyfriend and lots of animals so I know how cramped it can feel. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
