Newbie and Valentine. After nearly 7 years of living alone Newbie and Valentine now are one. They have lived together side by side in seperate cages for about 9 months now with all intentions of being cage mates in the future. Each night when they woke, they would not go for the mealies, or their food, but to each other to touch through the bars, Newbie licking the scent of her off his little hands. And Valentine chattering to him. The were in love. But they had to wait until I was really assured by my vet that his age would not keep him from doing ok while being neutered. And so he did great and healed up with no problems whatsoever. So, finally, I set up the tent in the living room, and before dark I hung both of their sleeping pouches inside so that they would wake together. Well goodness gracious, they woke together, Newbie hissing as he always does when he wakes, Valentine comes jumping out of her pouch to say good morning to her love. And they were together, running up and down the side of the tent together, up and down the hanging toys, first him in front, then her. Having the time of their lives. And then finally, after a good duel run on the wheel, one trying to go one way, the other , the other way they both got together and ran like the wind, at least until they got to going to fast and both where thrown a few feet from the wheel. Newbie is in heaven and Valentine has her little man now. What a delight it was to watch them as they go along perfectly, like long lost buddies. But would they sleep together???? When I got up this morning, I looked at the bottom of both pouches, I have learned the feel of each with each glider in them as per the total weight, yup, they were asleep together all snuggled up. So, I grabbed some yoggies and the camera and took a few quick pics before they decided to get up and play again. Here are the pics of the new couple, happy as pie and it was worth the wait to see them both so happy. He will never be alone again.

That is the sweetest story. But are you sure Newbie isn't smiling in that first picture? I bet it was a huge surprise to them both when they woke up and could actually play together.

It sure is a love story. Poor Newbie was alone for so many years but being un-neutered I didn't want babys from him. For those who don't know his story,,,, I got him from a woman that literally tortured him , leaving him for years in a 12"by 18" chicken cage all his life, filthy and a small hamster wheel in it. I knew that as soon as I got him home he would never live like that again.(see picture of his cage when I got him home) He was in rough shape when I got him 2 years ago, he had to have surgery under the eye that is good as he had a puss filled sack under that eye when I brought him home. Vet said it was a puncture from wire in is cage , and that is probably what happened to his blind eye and it was never doctored. It took over a month after surgery for it to finally drain out and heal over. I will include a picture of just after I got him from the woman and how awful he looked back they. It is just after the surgery under his good eye to clean out the puss. He is such a love, never biting , crabbing or making any kind of a fuss while being doctored. And when I had to doctor him 2 times a day to keep the puss out he was held just in my husbands hands while it was done, he did not need to be restrained at all, what a dear he is. And Valentine is my first Joey from Mickey and Mini, all grown up and a real love. She is my heart and every day we play in the bathroom for an hour after she gets up, she loves to fly from the top of the shower down to me sitting on the floor. So will add a few pics of her also. So, all is going great with them both and they are happy little suggies. It is 3:45 am and have been watching them playing in the tent, what a ball they are having. Every night I change out toys to keep them busy and out of trouble and they always have a challenge when they get up. I am anxious to see how all of my gliders like their new HPW. Hope that they ate all of it. Chat soon everyone and thanks for posting.

He really is Diana, I hope that the new HPW will make his coat nice and slick as have always had trouble keeping weight on him. He never had a good diet and was fed hamster food and apple all his life I assume since that is what is was in his so called home when I got him. He loves corn and nothing else in the way of veggies, but now loves all of his fruits and will eat all that I give him. But this morning, all of the HPW is still in their dish, so will have to check that tomorrow and see if they are still ignoring it. Everyone else cleaned theirs up so that is great. So will see how that goes.

HI Larchan luvsmyfids and adri. Sorry it made you cry but it is a sad story for my little Newbie. But when I got him home, that cage was history. He will be in a 240 rept when it arrives and will live there with Mini, the twins Petunia and Rose and Mickey. Who is still biting after neutering. He started biting when I made the mistake a few months ago when I did not wash my hands after playing with Newbie. He had twins at the time with Mini and he grabbed my finger and would'nt let go, I had to pry him off and he has been unhappy with me ever since. So I have separated him in his own cage since neuter so that I can handle him without trying to get him away from Mini and the twins. But he is still not happy with me. So I am going to start with putting Mini, Petunia and Rose beside Newbie and Valentine so that they can start getting to know each others scent. Then they will all live together. The twins are so much fun but when Mickey is with them, he refuses to let me take them from the cage. So I hope he will start to get that out of his system since he won't have all those hormones. Anyway I fed all the babies about an hour ago and Newbie and Valentine have decided that they do like the new HPW and have already eaten it all. That is so cool and makes me so happy. Will post some pics later of them in the tent tonight if they will let me get in, as they come running when they see me and usually leap to me. And then it is a chase around the house, silly kids. So will try and post them if I can get some good ones to share.
