I made the flex clone about 1.5 months ago and everything was fine and dandy until the lid fell of the bearing. I used epoxy originally, so i tried again with a glue gun, but that's fallen off too. does anyone have an idea about how to bond metal and plastic safely? the animals want their wheel back!!

I don't have a flex cone... is the glue in a place where the suggies could get to it?

I guess if you used epoxy probably not- have you tried gorilla glue? That stuff is incredible!

Let's see... NOPE... yikes <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

Right on the bottle it says "keep out of reach of children and animals."

It doesn't say anything about after it dries <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nixweiss.gif" alt="" />

But- if you ever need to glue anything non-child or animal related & want it to actually stay- use this!

It says: bonds wood, stone, metal, ceramic, foam board, concrete, brick, plastic laminate, iron, and aluminum!!!

I made the hole small enough that I had to wedge the bearing in it thtn I used animal safe silicone gel to stabilize it. Make sure you have it where the wheel won't wobble like mad though once you put the silicone on. I filled between the insode of the "lid" and the bearing back then pulled the bearing/screw so it squished. Then I used more silicone on the other side of the bearing and used a wetred finger to smooth the silicone into the gap as much as possible.

hmmm... i think i have a different type of bearing than you. mine is just like a doughnut. there's nothing sticking up for the lid to rest against. maybe i'll try the silicone, if i can find it.
maybe giant washers on either side of the bearing so the lid could concievably move on the bearing, but not fall off? i dunno. this is driving me mad. my Fish people, too, since they are the ones who have to (or can't...) run on it!!

Umm boy that was the problem with the design. I couldn't get mine to stay either. I went with the stealth wheels and never looked back. They have a great way of holding the lid to the bearing but I can't get in to it. (You wouldn't believe the test wheels they went thru to get it right) hope you can get it fixed. If not Click the link under my name and order a stealth lol
