I've been interested in the cremino color and I was wondering a couple things
How does the cremino gene work? Is it similar to the leu gene? Is it a mutation of the leu gene? How did it end up coming about?
There should be a website that lists all the color variations and how they came about LOL that'd be nifty ^_^

Creminos are albinos, not leucisics.
There are T+ and T- albinos. One produces the white with red/pink eyes and the other produces the creminos.

She paired to gliders that had their tails injured and had a pair of creamino joeys from them. I'm sorry but I found that pretty funny and giggled over that. It makes it sound like you have to have two gliders with injured tails to have creminos!

The process of creating melanin is simple. Ok I'm with you so far. Tyrosine which is a type of amino acid is converted into dopa and then into dopaquinone in the presence of tyrosinase, which is synthesized by the melanophores. Dopaqunone is later midified into melanin and deposited in the appropriate melanophores. This is the root of the terms "Tyrosine positive(T+) and Tyrosinase negative(T-) albinos. So when is this going to get simple? In T- Albinos... Tyrosinase is not produced(switch is off) by the melanophores so no melanin is ever created by the melanophores. Result is an animal possessing absolutely no color whatsoever which is the All White Albino with Red Ruby Eye Color.
In the T+ Albino.... Tyrosinase is produced(switch is turned on) but is blocked from gaining access into the melanophores. Thus T+ Albinos are generally darker than their counterparts, often containing traces of melanin deposits that result in a slightly darker look then the all White T-Albinos of the same species. Just not working for me Judie.. Eye color of the T- Albino which is Red is particulary prominent while in the T- the eye color is dramatically darker. Eye color can be Garnet to a deep Burgandy.
Gene for Crem-ino is Simple Recessive. Ok can I just say.. I was a biology major for TWO years and that was complicated for ME. lol Maybe thats why I'm not in biology anymore

I'm with you, Lauren. It all went over my head really quickly Which is why I always clearly state that I just don't know anything about breeding for color

I'm not going to read that because I know I'll get lost after the third sentence. I'm sorry, but sometimes you guys are way to smart! I easy way I look at it as.... T- is no pigment whatsoever, and T+ has some pigment, but no dark pigment. You will never see black on something that's albino. (Except for I think there's a python called a Paradox python, and it's albino with black specks. I have NO clue how that works.)
