Breed a leu to a standard I believe.

I believe Gwen is right about that. However, since breeding for color is definitely NOT my forte I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong roflmao

Moving this over to Breeding & Babies.

to get a 100% leu het, you have to have 1 parent that is a leucistic wink

Also, if you have a lower percentage het and it produces a leu, then the lower percentage het then becomes a 100% het. wink

the leu gene is recessive which means it can be masked by normal coloring....it takes two recessive genes to produce the all white glider.....if one parent is leucistic and the other is not, the only gene that the leu parent can contribute is a recessive leu gene...the normal parent will contribute its own gene for color, although the leu gene is not expressed, one knows with 100% certainty that the joey carries the leu gene (as it's parent is leucistic).....the lower percentage hets refer to the POSSIBILITY that the glider carries the leu gene.....like Nicole said, if you have a glider who is say a 66% POSSIBILITY of possessing the leu gene and it produces a leu baby, you are now 100% certain your glider carries the leu gene thus making your 66% chance of having the leu gene a 100% certainty of having the leu gene....voila a 100% leu het

I didn't realize that a proven leu breeder increases it's % to 100%. Thanks for that info!

Yes, a partial het (anything other than 100%), only potentially carries the gene. I recently proved out a 33% het grin

I did! at first they both appeared to be leus, but than the other started coloring up and ended up a very beautiful gray smile His brother Levi still amazes me though grin http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r56/GlidinHigh/Arian_and_Amira/AAJoeys/Levi_and_Lucas/005-2.jpg
