Today I reached in my suggies nesting box and gently pulled out Tiki, when I picked her up she was bleeding "down there" and I got worried and put her back in her cage she sat there for a moment, then started to clean herself up . Does this mean that she had a baby or two when I was away this afternoon . I was reading and it said that they usually have their babies in the afternoon. I hope she has them in her pouch . Please tell me what you think.

Perhaps it's a UTI, that would cause bleeding - I think a vet check would be best for her, just to be sure!

A UTI is a Urinary Tract Infection. I'm not saying she didn't give birth, I'm saying that I don't know - I've never heard of blood being present - I've talked to 3 other members in IM & they never heard of it either - that's why I suggested the vet check. Better safe than sorry!

If it isn't happining anymore and she has never done this before, do you still think it is a UTI. Last night she was cleaning her pouch inside and out.

Watch her closely, listen for hissing when she pees - if there is any behavior change, hissing while peeing, or any more blood; I would take her in ASAP!

petal is now having a normal bowel movement. She is alert.
Is it possible that apple juice will give her diarrhea?
Someone suggested that it would be a possibility. If she gets diarrhea can that change the color of her stool. Her energy seeem to come in spurts. When she was out for playtime tonight it took her about an half an hour to start
we took away the wodent wheel at that point, she started to act like herself she was out about 2 hours then after that she let us know that she wanted to back into her cage. Normally at this point she will play in her wheel for hours and she is not. Although she can be enticed into coming out for a few minutes at a time with a toy of a sort but it does not last she seem to be hiding. She has been drinking without any problems and she ate pretty good not as much as normal. But then most of her eating is done towards morning anyways. Please if anyone has ideas we would like for you to post.
Currently have a vet issuse because of the hurricane.

I've witnessed a couple gliders giving birth and there has never been any blood. The joeys are about the size of a grain of rice or a piece of glider poo for that matter... If you were to catch the tail end of a birth you would have seen a licky trail or a joey going IP most likely, but no blood. You need to take your little girl to a vet because blood coming from the cloaca can be a sign of some very serious problems. Even if nothing is wrong, it is always better to be safe than sorry.

[:"green"]Actually, the one time I witnessed Daisy giving birth, there wasn't blood at the actual birth, but there was when she delivered the afterbirth (placenta). She licked it up and eliminated it almost immediately. Never saw any blood before or after that brief few seconds. If she's not showing any more signs of bleeding, then my guess is that she gave birth & you witnessed the afterbirth.

I'll try that, could you still feel them if they are only the size of a grain of rice?

[:"green"]Yes, you will still be able to feel them. Just be very gentle so you don't dislodge them from the teats.

This is the first time I thought she had babies but I don't know if I can feel them or not. I think I can though.
