I don't have gliders quite yet, but I will be getting my first either in December or January. I plan to keep them with me everywhere (or almost everywhere) that I go. I work in an office job, quiet and stress-free. I head home and lounge around my house on the weekends, go to the store, go see my mom, a few of my friends, but I live a fairly quiet life.

Because I want to bring my babies with me when I go out, I thought it would be best to pocket train them. I would be much more comfortable if they DID decide to peek out of the pouch and see what's going on, if I knew they wouldn't leave my person. What is the best way to go about this? I want their safety over everything else, and it would definately ease my mind.

Whenever I take my gliders out of my house with me I put them in a secure bonding pouch. I love, love, love the Sissy pouch. With almost any bonding pouch you order/make, you can get them with windows on the side that will allow the gliders to peak out but they won't be able to escape.

The only way to get your glider to say with you when not in a pouch is to form such a strong bond with them that they will want to stay with you. Even then, some gliders are just so curious that they are bound to wander off and explore. However this takes time and I wouln't recommend it with new gliders.

During the day it is much easier to have them with you because they will be sleeping the whole time. Two of mine I can carry in my shirt and do not worry about them getting up to run off, but my other two just have to see what is going on around them, so it really depends on the glider.

For starters I would recommend taking them with you in a bonding pouch and then judging for yourself how you think your gliders could handle being out of the pouch.

My intention, specially with work (I love my boss, I told him I was getting them and he said they could be the office pets) is to just be able to keep them with me. bonding while they are sleeping and such. I was advised to have a small cage or reptarium should they need to use the bathroom during the day so they won't go in the pouch. Even if they decided to explore in my offise, they could not get out as the room is sealed (I deal with confidential materials). But I would like to train them to not wander far, if possible. More as a precautionary measure than anything. But yes, a few days after I get them and I let them settle down in my home, they will be accompanying me pretty much everywhere.

It gives me a nice warm feeling to imagine something that small and furry depending on me for everything... I want to give them a wonderful home, full of love and caring.

I mostley let my baby ride in my shirt in the car, then when I get to work I put him in his pouch until I get to my ofc. then I just open his pouch in case he wants to come out and play, but mostly he sleeps!

in parts of the house I'm ok with them being out and about- other parts not.. but I just leae them in a zipper pouch- if its ok for them to come out I unzip it...

I do want to try to bra train one of the boys. Happosai when awakened for tent time before he wants to be up clings to my breast and lets me pet him from outside the shirt so I think he'll go for this.. unlike our girls...

Now how often during the day do they leave their pouches to use the bathroom or get a snack?

Most gliders that are bra or pouch trained generally sleep the day through unless disturbed. I do have one little boy who just can't go all day without coming out once to leave a present on my shoulder.

LOL I cannot remember who it was (sorry!) but I was advised to get a little reptarium, and if they wake up and want out to just put a paper towel in it and let them do their business in that instead of making a mess.

That is wonderful that you have the ability to do that at work.

If I wait until they are truly asleep for the day (about 9 for the girls) and don't wake them, they don't get up to pee/poop, if I wake them they tend to go the first time I do that... haven't tried an all day wearing with the boys, just a few hours at a time as my days off since they came home have been a bit busy! we'll know more after this trip to NJ as I hope we will be wearing them lots!

A lot of people at my work have pets, turtles, fish, hamsters, etc. When you spend as much time in an office as we do, it is nice to have SOMETHING to break the monotonous. My gliders are going to be my babies (as I won't be having children) and it will be so nice to be able to bring them with me everywhere. My office is pretty cool, as we aren't interrupted much with what we do and we work at our own pace. If the need arises, i can stop working and play with the babies for a while. I <3 my job.

I don't know if this is the same for everyone, but I started pocket training my gliders from the minute that I got them. I would let them sleep in my shirt, or in the pocket of a hoodie. They love it! (espcically if you put a sock, or a small piece of fleece or something for them to curl up with.) I must say though, that I always bring my bonding pouch with me just in case. Also, I think its important to mix it up, because there are times when you want your gliders to be comfortable in their bonding pouch. I know that mine definately had to adjust to it and didn't like it at first. Also, make sure that if you wake them up during the day you have time for them. Mine seem to want to sleep undisturbed all day, but if I wake them up--they're up and they want attention. I am a college student, so I bring my gliders with me a lot because on some days its the only time I would get to see them. But overall, pocket training hasnt been that hard for me and I hope your gliders enjoy it.
