you could never go to big. Well I guess you could if you were planning on moving the cage around the house to clean or something... But some poeple offer a whole room! And for me anything smaller then 18x30x36 inches is to small.

The bars of the cage are best if they are in a grid pattern (horizontal and vertical bars that cross). Vertical bars are used on most flight cages that people buy but gliders tend to slip down the bars when holding on. The size should be no more than 1" x 1/2" otherwise you'll risk escaping gliders!
As for material of the cages, just stay away from uncovered galvanized. I prefer PVC coated cages because I find them to be easier to clean and quieter than the powder-coated metal cages. But I'm sure plenty of people use the powder coated cages and like them better than PVC coated ones It's all about peprsonal preferences.
And I personally feel that you can clutter your cages up with too many things. I like to leave room for my gliders to jump around in their cages still.
For size, you'll get a lot of varying answers. I also feel than anything less than 3' tall is too small. I have my pairs in 5'x2'x2' cages and they use every square inch of the cage and I know if I went bigger, they'd use all the space too. So I would say go as big as you can reasonable afford, clean, and accommodate in your home
