CALLING ALL MOUTHY PEOPLE!!!

I just spoke to another lady that got a girl from (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets.I had told her that her girl was inbred, from the mills,AND SHE SHOULD NOT CONSIDER BREEDING HER. I helped get her eating correctly & healthy, gave her some of ALL the extra nuetrients I use, as well as giving her a vet for her check up. Was not enough!
She called me to ask about a breeder that was selling her a male as a companion for her female.
She thought my telling her not to breed her was for the little girls health. And she didn't think about the effect on the joeys. So she is now looking for another female. Thank God!
So short of taking an add out on TV,(which we hope Opra will do for us), can anyone else come up with an idea on how to help stop the breeding of the mill gliders. I can't stand the thought of the diseases & neurotic disorders of these gliders being bred back into the joeys. Not to mention what it does to the whole glider community.
One thing I do, is find out right off if they have another glider & where it came from. But this is done gently, so as not to put them on the defense. This opens the door to help educate them some.
So ALL breeders, please be sure to go that extra mile. It may take your time, and It may kill your sale,(at that time) but you gain SO much more respect & credibility.
As big as my mouth is! And It can't get the word out enough?? (imagin that) lol

I wrote a letter to Ellen about the glider mill breeders. She loves animals. Maybe if more people write her and send some pictures of their (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets babies in their worst hour she would talk about it on her show sometime... I know that Ellen can not stand to see an animal suffering. I have not received any response to my letter yet tho.

I was unable to find an acual address, but on her site there is are two places to contact her. One way is to email her. There is also a "Be part of the show" link. At the bottom is the "Dear Ellen" link, where you can give suggestions for shows. I noticed there is also an "unusual pets" catagory. Maybe someone with gliders can get on the show and talk about the mill while there!

You guys are great!
Had forgotten about Ellen til just this morning over coffee with my "glider pal"!! And you guys are already on it!
And glad to see there are other "mouthy" people too.
Wish the gliders themselves could talk!

Raquel, I love the idea of Ellen dancing with a suggie!!
I don't know what it is about her dancing- but every one seems to love it! Maybe this will help them.

I just can't stand the thought of people breeding the mill gliders again. They already had such an unhealthy start at life, but to "HAVE" pass the same issues on to their joeys is horrible. And I know for a fact, there are people still willing to allow these unhealty gliders to breed, because their owners "want" to see joeys. Maybe I'm being over protective, but seems to me that as a parent of a child OR pet, it is our responsibility to do what is best for them.
As a parent & grandparent, the children's NEEDS have always come before my WANTS. Isn't it the same with our pets? I mean they probably would love to eat some chocolate, but you dont give it to them!!
I feel thats just our own selfishness. Heck, if people want to hold joeys, they are welcome to come hold mine - anytime. But what happens with the joeys when they grow up?, Since they bond for life?? Do any of the people breeding them, have a clue of what hands they will end up in? Or how many homes? Or have hours to spend Interviewing perspective parents? Do a follow up on them? I could go on forever on the misfortunes of attempting a healthy glider, let alone a mill bred baby.
I'm not saying not to breed. But one should consider their reasons to do it, as well as the after affects. And be prepared for the worse to happen at the most worse time. Rejected joeys are more time consuming than one could ever believe! Not to mention the expenses of vet bills.

So ok, getting off my soapbox & off to write Ellen as well!
