Has my little Nutmeg been rejected???? I opened the sleeping box and she was sleeping all alone, opposite end of the box from her parents. She is very cold, labored breathing, sluggish movements, and her noises are 'dry'. Oh please help me, she is just a very young thing (about 1.5 weeks oop)
i tried putting her back with mommy... she wont cling on... she seems to be dragging her legs... (the baby) is it HLP or do they just walk like that??? HELP
oh no connor!! get her warm and call the vet... someone with experience will be along soon... keep us updated...
ginger WONT take her... Nutmeg's trying to hang on for dear life, but ginger will NOT let her nurse. I'm keeping her warm right now....shes sleeping... oh, help me, God, Nutmeg has been rejected. My poor baby, her back legs WONT work, shes twisting her front leg weirdly... Oh, God I dont know what to do
Call the emergency vet see if you can get a french cathiter and a 1 cc seringe and get some puppy milk asap. Feed her as much as she'll take (probably about 1cc) every 3 hours. Get a 10 gallon tank or one of the plastic ones and a small reptile heating pad. Get some fleece and put in in the tank. This should get you started. Here is a link for rejected joeys. http://www.sugarglider.net/ubbthreads/sh...p;page=0#169977
Yes, no one does sugar gliders, though, let alone small ones. I may just be over-reacting, although it is NOT like Nutmeg to not welcome a feeding. Ginger will have absolutely NOTHING to do with the baby. This feels like a dream... It cant really be happening, someone pinch me. I'll call the vet
Actually, she'll probably eat more than every 3 hrs. since she is so young. But definatley get a cathiter and syringe with puppy milk and start feeding her and get her warm. Be carefull of putting her back with parents after feeding her. I tried supplementing once and put the joey back and they ate him, it was horrible. So I suggest getting a tank set up. If you can get ahold of christinahan she will be able to help you. Good Luck!
Connor you can make her some puppy milk or some bml with No eggshells and blended extra smooth for the baby. You can thin out the BML with the puppy formula or wombaroo replacer. If there is a pet store open near you they might have syringe with the cathetar preformed into it--I'll post a pic in a minute.
Shawna Who are you networked with? Networking could save your gliders life. Create one now.
If you can find a way keep her against your skin to keep her warm until you can make the incubater..Miss priss was one week old when I started hand feeding her..I fed part baby bml and part woombroo milk. Every hour for a couple of days and then every 2 hours for a while. Good luck!
connor... I hand fed a baby so it is possible... every 2-3 hours she will need to be fed... I didnt have the french caths that most use on her, but my son has to be cathed so I used one of his...now what I did was took a syringe for meds for babies, and put the cath on there and fed her every 2-3 hrs... she is know 7 weeks tomorrow and eating fruit on her own... if you need anything, let me know and Ill see what I can do for you.

yes, blend extra fine. You will need a cathiter for her. try to call the vet, tell them your situation and see if they will give you one. If they don't have a french cathiter use a regular one, that's what I had to do.
So sorry to hear this. Have you checked her belly in the light to see if there is any milk at all in there. I do agree, keep this baby warm and start supplement feedings right away. I have personally never had this problem so all I can do is offer you prayers and good thoughts.
Please keep us posted, and know that we are all praying it all works out for the best.
[:"green"]Connor, please call me right away so I can help you out. My number is toll free: 866-399-4476. Normally I don't take calls after 9 p.m. but this is an emergency so PLEASE CALL right away!
[:"green"]Okay, now that I'm waiting for your call... It sounds like she's dehydrated. You need to start giving her Pedialyte or Liquilyte right away if you have it. If not, do you have Gatorade? It is imperative that you get liquids into her! You have to get her warm before she will drink anything, though. If you have a heating pad, then turn it on low, wrap it in 2 layers of toweling, doubled over (total of 4 layers thick), then hold it against your body, holding the joey against it until she gets warm. Once she's warm you can place a drop of whatever liquid you use on her lips, she should lap it up. (Do not get it in her nose.) If she's not warm, she won't drink.
[:"green"]If you have puppy formula, booster milk or wombaroo, then add it to the liquilyte/pedialyte/gatorade. This will give her the nutrition she needs as well as getting her hydrated again. Baby BML will be good AFTER she has gotten hydrated. The most important thing right now is to get her liquid level back up. The reason she is dragging her legs is due to dehydration and cold.
[:"green"]Oh Lord... I hope we're not too late. Shawna, thank you for calling me and giving me a heads-up about this.
[:"green"]There is a complete information page on my web-site about handraising joeys. Please check it out once things have settled down. It has specific directions about how to make an incubator, Baby BML, Joey Formula, how often to feed, how to feed, etc. You can check it out HERE!
