i was wondering if anyone has experience with gliders with neurological problems?? i think that the rescue i have (astro) that i got in july has some issues. when i give him something like mealies or yoggies he grabs for them with his mouth and latches on to my finger with his hands with a pretty strong grip and doesnt let go. i also have seen him holding on to something and start to run and not let go, and its definitly not his nails getting caught on anything because he's done this with my finger too. he rarely eats anything with his hands, he grabs with his mouth and finishes it with his mouth, he never grabs it to take little pieces he just goes for the whole thing. i got really concerned when he tried to run still holding onto my finger. what do u think??

If you have concerns, you should have him seen by a vet. I know when I feed my two mealies, I use those wooden tongs for reptiles. MY gliders grab on to the end of the tongs and don't let go even though they already have the mealie. I have to pry their hands off of it. Thats why I use the tongs, otherwise they would grab my finger and not let go.

You still have my number? If you want to talk, you can use it any time.
Although, if this is the only symptom you are seeing, I would say it is just a quirk that makes him "Astro." You can work with him and try to change the behavior, but being a rescue, you don't know where it stems from.
Agreed- any concerns should be addressed with a vet.

thanks for the input, he seems quite healthy other that that. maybe im just not used to it, because cozmo doesnt do it and they all have different personalities. and yes i still have your number val, thanks. i just dont want to bother you with things unless i really need you. the only reason i say he's a rescue is because he came from a rescue, but he was born there. he was never adopted. i will definitly bring him to the vet if this gets to be a problem.

I had two gliders with neurological problems during their last few months of life You can read about them by going to Neurological Damage in the Special Needs forum. However, the symptom you have described is not anything that I experienced with either Pika or Cricky, so I suspect that, as others have already said, it may just be an Astro-quirk
