I'm sorry to hear that Melissa. Did the vet say what the first one was? I'm wondering if they could possibly be bug/spider bites. I hope this gets cleared up. Sending lost of hugs and prayers.

I can't see the pics very well..sorry. Is the new bump (and old one) near her tear duct? Have the vet check her teeth and sinus' too. Go over the cage with a cotton ball to see if it snags on anything that might be poking her. Check her water bottle too. Check to make sure there isn't a toy, pouch or anything at all that might have something she is getting her face near that could be poking or scratching her. Also, check for a cobweb, spiders or anything that could bite her.

Melissa, here are a couple of phone numbers that you can pass on to this new vet for consultation. These two vets will Consult 'directly' with your vet only.
Dr.Tim Tristan at 361-994-1145 – Peggy Brewers vet
Dr. Teresa Bradley at 816-331-3120. She'll do consults during clinic hours.
I sure hope they can figure out what the cause is. How is she doing today?
The member who I believe suggested that it could be an ingrown hair was Dancing.HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I could be wrong and members might not agree with me but tomorrow I'd be on the vets door step when they opened - how do they not know this is SERIOUS - Sometimes vet techs (and I'm not being nasty) don't what's an emergency or not - The vet I'm taking Junior to has a receptionist that has never seen a glider and has no idea what they are - When I told her I had an Umbrella Cockatoo that needed her nails cut she stated that "They had one of those white birds in their office" sometimes I wonder - at least the vet is knowledgeable Good luck and I'm sure you'll fill us in as soon as you know the out come Sue Owned By & Mom To

Melissa, They look to me like 'blisters' Are they soft or hard to touch? Are they semi translucent? Have you checked her entire body to see if there might be any more developing? The initial diagnosis from your vet sounds like this could possibly be some sort of a skin infection. If it were ingrown hair, it's odd to have one on each side identical. I noticed (but could be wrong) that the one on the left is smaller, is this the one that you started putting the medication on? Have you put any on the recent one?

i just checked her whole body and their are no more blisters.Just the ones that are on her face. The blisters are pretty soft to the touch. The Left one is the one that developed first. It Started to get better when i was giving her oral medicine then the one on the right formed and the left stayed that way. i was told to stop the treatment and wait till jan 8th (which is my vet appointment with my good vet). do you think i should give it to her again?

That could also be a sebacious gland-body oils are secreted from them-scent glands are included in the grouping, but these also produce oils that help keep them waterproofed when they groom, and are located all over including under the arms, around the eyes, on the head and chest, around the cloaca, and around the pouch in a female.

I got a call from Bourbon today...she sent me the pics of this glider and asked me to contact Dr.Tristan. I did so while she was still on the phone. 15 minutes later I had a response. (I do have his consent to share this email) If it is bumping into things, it may have a neuro issue causing blindness or partial blindness. The whiskers help but are only an aid, not the primary sensory organ. With the bumps being bilateral it has to be a normal anatomical structure that is swollen......like a hair follicle or a gland of some sort. This appears minor and I would be more concerned about the motor control and resultant breaking of the whiskers from running into things. I would not lance it! Tim
When you take your glider into your vet, PLEASE take Dr.Tristans number with you and ask your vet to do a phone consult. His number is 361-994-1145 I did ask him what he would do and he said he would rather talk to your vet when they have the glider there before giving out any advice since he can not physically see the glider. Hope this helps a bit. I know this has quite a few of us with questions.

normal anatomical structure that is swollen These two comments made me think that if there is swelling of some sorts, it could be pressing on the optic nerves. Just a thought.

Bourbon called me yesterday afternoon and we discussed what's happening with your glider. She mentioned that she thought that the whiskers in question are normally out by the time a joey is weaned. Since I have multiple joeys in my home right now, I told her I would check them all to see if they have their whiskers yet or not. So, I did... I currently have -2- 3 week old males (oop 12/13/08), -1- 6 week old male (oop 11/22/08) and -1- 15 week old female (oop 9/20/08). I checked all of them and they DO all have all of their whiskers already. I don't know if that information will help your vet or not, but promised Bourbon I would let you know...

thank you Srlb, Dancing, Sugarglidersuz and Bourbon that you so much for taking the time to help me find out what is wrong with diana.
Sugarglidersuz she did have whiskers before the bumps started. But now they're gone. This might be a stupid question but do whiskers grow back?
