I am not totally sure what age, but I would say that at 17 days oop would be about right. It could be that since the weather is colder they would prefer to stay tucked inside to stay cozy warm.

Silvara and Gil's joeys never did it(unless I put them there, lol), but with Milky Way and LEda's joeys they'd ride around all the time after about 5/6 weeks.

It depends on the parents more than the joeys. Some parents will carry them right away (joeys can cling on from day 1 OOP) and some parents don't (won't) carry their joeys around. It just means mom and dad don't want them clinging on while they play and feel they are safe where they are. thumb

OK well...if he is not going to be one to come out of the pouch piggy back style, at what age do they typically come out to explore?
Romeo is sweet and he has never tried to bite, but he crabs crabs crabs! And then will bark and crab some more until he settles down a bit when I have him out. I am taking him out for 10 min in the morning and evenings now. I could probably do longer, but he just seems so unhappy frown. He just hit 3 weeks yesterday (Sunday) I was hopeing he would be an easier baby, but he is keeping me on my toes, and I love him to peices, crabs and all!

What! Are you serious, well maybe that is one of my issues! I need to just carry him around more! He acts like he is hungry if I hold hi for too long, well maybe that is just his way of snuggling, he kinda roots around in my hand. Oh I am so lost and just don't know what I am doing, I am being super cautious, cause I don't want to do anything wrong, but at the same time, I want to do what ever it takes to make him someones bestest furbutt ever~
Anyone else have any suggestions on this? PLEASE feel free to tell me is I am WRONG!

Megan,
Gradually build up the amount of time you have him away from his parents. He will slowly get used to being handled. By 3-4 weeks out of pouch, I generally am handling my joeys for about 30-45 minutes at a time with no problems. 4 hours is an extreme and I wouldn't be comfortable keeping them away from their food for that long at that age (sorry, Brittney, just my opinion)...
