When does the mother start singing to her joeys? I thought she didn`t do it until they are oop but I always hear her making sounds like a chirping/sneezing/crabbing kind of sound. I`ve heard what a mother sounds like singing on one of the links but I know that mother`s sometimes have their own songs too. I`m wondering if it is singing that she`s doing or if dad`s just upsetting her about something. Babies are still in pouch, that`s why I`m asking if she sings while they`re still in pouch. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thanx.gif" alt="" />

It`s kinda hard to explain. It sounds like she`s sneezing, sometimes softly and sometimes it gets a little louder, almost like she`s trying to get something out of her nose lol, with a little bit of the crabbing noise to it. But it continues sometimes for a minute or so. I wish you could hear it and with this being our first time with joeys on the way, It`s hard for me to determine why she`s doing this.

Is the pouch (sleeping pouch) shaking when she is making that noise?

Oh my, that`s a good question. When she does it is usually when I wake up first thing when I`m still a little "out of it" lol. I know I have looked over at them but I don`t remember if the pouch was ever shaking. I`ll have to pay better attention the next time. What does it mean if it is shaking or not shaking?

if the pouch is shaking and she is making a chittering siound she is trying to shake the joeys off of her so she can go play. Singing is a very quite soft noise . sounds soothing.

They will chitter for the first few weeks that the joey is oop, not all the time.

OK that makes sense but the joeys are still in the pouch, they haven`t come out yet. Does the mother sing while they are in the pouch or when they come oop?

Lola made a similar noise to what you are describing.I took it as singing too.I can definatly tell a diffrence in the "get off" noise and the singing(?)
They all sing diffrently.
