Are those "pedicure perches" safe to use in glider cages? They're used to keep birds' nails trim, and I'm hoping to use them in my glider cage so I don't have to trim their nails. (I do have TrimTrax with my Stealth Wheel, but it doesn't keep them short enough).
Plus, I'm always looking for more things for my gliders to perch on!

I agree, I tried them once, and they did nothing. Like Jenny said, try the Nail-o-Matic

Ok, I have to disagree......
I use "pedicure perches" in my cage (I'm actually getting another this afternoon) with wonderful results. I didn't have much luck with my Nail-o-Matic.....
If you use the pedicure perches put them at a slight angle so your gliders have to run up/down them.

I don't want to use the Nail o Matic because I've heard some horror stories about the Wodent Wheel...I'm not willing to risk it. It just scares me.
Perhaps I'll try a pedicure perch...if nothing else I'm sure they'll enjoy having another place to sit!

just out of curiousity, and I don't mean to drive this offtopic, but what kind of horror stories are associated with the wodent wheel?

Hi guys, well, I'll add my two cents worth... First, I have wondered about the Pedicure Perches, so thanks, now I know they are ok! At first, I thought they would be too rough and irritate the gliders' little feet, so this is nice to have, maybe, just as a back-up. Now, for the Wodent wheels, there have been some horror stories of gliders getting their tails caught around the axle, or the shaft, inside the Wodent Wheel. I have nine gliders and three or four Wodent wheels, and I have not had a single problem with the WWs (thank God!). I think the critical thing with the Wodent wheels is to clean them every week, totally dismantle them, clean them well, then use sandpaper to keep the axle clean and free of any debris (I can see where it would "gum up" and get really nasty, then, after cleaning it down, wipe it off with a damp cloth... dry it, and liberally apply some vegetable oil. This will keep the axle clean, make the WW run quieter, and should limit any kind of danger to a glider's tail. I love my Wodent wheels, and for awhile, I got spooked and removed them, totally. I tried the Silent Spinner, but I cracked one while I was cleaning it, so back to the Wodent Wheel for me. I will have to try a Stealth one day, when I find a good deal on one, but for now, I am more than happy with my WWs. I love the Nail-O-Matics... I'm just out right now and need to re-order.

Yep, Cyndi mentioned it...I've heard more than one story of tail injuries from the Wodent Wheel. I know a lot of people use them with success and their suggies love them, but I'm paranoid.

Thanks Cyndi and Kristy! I hadn't heard that before now. Isabel's Wodent wheel was hers before I got her and she loves it. I believe I'll keep an eye on it, and keep it cleaned like Cyndi suggested for now...
