I made one with pvc as the frame and the green metal hardware cloth. Mine is 24x24x60. I made a wood bottom with a pull out tray.If you want I can e-mail you a pic.

If you plan to build your own cage and are going to use wood be sure to research the proper coating for the wood, I made the mistake with my first cage of not coating the wood properly, and eventually just had to throw the cage out, the urine and such soaked into the wood and made it impossible to get the smell out…. Also be sure to plan well for a pull out tray at the bottom to make cleaning a bit easier… Best of luck!

The gliders never come in contact with the wood bottom. I had a cage that was wood framed. It is very hard to keep the wood clean.

Check out this site, www.klubertanz.com and they have everything you need for building a cage. I have gone there a few times myself to get the necessary cage supplies. I am very happy with the cages I built for our gliders.

I use 1/2"x1" 16-gauge pvc coated wire, for those who is wondering. No pvc frame is needed, as the wire is strong enough to hold its shape on its own. I built a 3'x2'x6' cage, a few travel cages and am in the process of building more 24"x18"x36" cages, all with the wire and supplies from Klubertanz.

When you do call to place an order with Klubertanz, ask for Richard and tell him you are building a cage for gliders. Richard is great! Richard has seen my gliders once.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
