I have 2 joeys on the way and I know they can stay with their parents for up to around 12 weeks. My question is, after I separate them, can they ever have supervised playtime together as a family?? I know you have to woory about mother mating with son, and father with daughter or even 2 males fighting, but I`ve never had Nicky and Nina try to "do it" (lol) during playtime in the bathroom or tent. Now, if I`m correct, if i have one or 2 females, I think it would be ok for mommy to have playtime with them, right? But, I don`t know what they`re having yet, males, females, I`d just like to be able to do playtime all together as a family lol

If you are having play time every day then they may not fight, I would still worry about dad trying to mate with daughters though and sons mating with mom, my gliders will do it any where! lol If you only plan on play time once a week as a family then this is very scary because the parents will forget their kids and the kids will start to smell different so there is a BIG chance of them fighting. If you do try this make sure to watch them every second and be prepaired to seperate two fighting gliders

I was planning on having playtime together everyday if someone told me it would work out fine rather than having 2 separate playtimes per day. If I can`t do the family thing then I would have to take turns with each couple, only one couple per night so the gliders would come out to play once every other day (which I don`t like), due to my shedule). I`d like all of them to be able to come out everyday. I wouldn`t have let them forget each other, I am planning on having the cages either side by side or on opposite sides of the room. They would still know each other if they`re on opposite sides of the room, wouldn`t they? It`s not a very big room. They`d be approx. 10-12 feet apart maybe. It would just help out so much if I could do playtime with all of them all at once.

Every glider is different, but have my cages about a foot apart and the neighbor cages HATE eachother. They will taunt each other through the bars and try to attack.. Yeesh! Anyway if you are ALWAYS getting them out to play then there is a possibility that they will be just fine, you still run the risk of them mating with their kids though. Just watch them like a hawk, it may work wonderfully but also may fail misserably

LOL, that`s too funny! I don`t want them to hate each other, maybe I should put them on the other side of the room, or in a different room? Well, maybe if they have playtime together everyday, maybe they`ll stay friends lol. I guess my biggest question and most importantly is, if they do try to breed while in the bathroom or tent, is it possible to put a stop to it? Or will my hands look like swiss cheese? lol I just want to find out ahead of time so I can make a decision whether I should attempt this or not

Anyone else can leave comments or opinions too. Does anyone have playtime with the family with or without problems? I just wish I could find someone who has actually done it to see how it went : )

Thank you Amber, yes, that was very helpful <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />. I`ll just take it day by day and carefully watch their attitudes etc. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thanx.gif" alt="" />
