Trouble with bird cage door escapees? #71697

I just got a new (huge) cage for my gliders, it's a bird cage and the width between bars is small enough (I don't recall what it is off-hand but I did research it before I bought it.)
The cage has got something like 9 doors! All of which I like being able to open and reach in to rearrange things or reach my gliders so I'd prefer not to "permanently" close them with zip ties. They're standard "bird cage doors" in that they slide up to open. So far they haven't been able to open them but I thought I'd ask if anyone's had a glider escape through one of these? It seems like it would be difficult for them to get one open, but I suppose not impossible.
Thanks!

If it is possible a glider will find a way to escape.
You can use clothes pegs or bull clips to keep the doors shut, and still be able to open them in a snap.
Hope this helps.

Yes, Oscar figured out the second nigth that he could lift this up and sneak out. I found him on Syds cage trying to get in, lol.
Anyway, one way or another your gliders may figure that out. I put the locking crocks on mine that way I can lift them up, but they are too heavy for the gliders to lift up.

I wire tied the ones I didn't need and the ones I wanted easy, quick access to I used wooden clothes pins

My little ones escaped twice the first night, I thought the big door were too heavy for them, yah right
I use wooden clothes pins too. They work well and are cheap so you can replace them easily if they get "marked".

We are looking into that issue too and someone suggested the velcro ties to us. We haven't tried it yet, but I thought it was a great idea.

Also thought of hanging something on the doors like mentioned above, a clip or something, making them too heavy to lift... Wouldn't take much.

I used the small hair claw like clips - cheap easy (have many around) and they are plastic - easy to clean if neccessary and they dont stick out. Also make sure that they can not get past the bottom grate..I had a guy escape by pushing out the bottom tray!

we use plastic clothespins for other things, I think they'd be better then wood as they are cleanable!

another option is to use linky rings- like geolinks on them, thats what I do on the little travel cage they came in...

In the school section, we got some rings (like the ones in a notebook) and they are easy to use and no more escaping for the little ones. We bought them at wal-mart and got 5 for 97 cents.

Thanks for all the advice, I got some tiny hair clips (the claw-like ones) and they work great!
