[:"green"]If you have access to plastic hardware cloth with 1/2" mesh you can make them very easily. Cut a piece to the length & width you want the shelf to be. Then cut enough strips of fleece to about 6" longer than the length to go through the mesh lengthwise (twice as many strips of fleece as the shelf's width). Weave the fleece strips in and out of the hardware cloth, leaving about 3" of fringe at each end. Once all are woven through, tie a double-knot into each adjoining pair of fleece fringes. Use lanyard hooks to attach the shelf to the bars of your cage & Voila! Your shelf is done...
Hope that makes sense!
The beauty of this type of shelf is that it is machine washable and easy to make. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumb.gif" alt="" />

a roll of 3' X 15' is $14.00! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yelclap.gif" alt="" />
sounds good to me!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
Now do I need wire cutters to cut it, or just regular scissors <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/question.gif" alt="" />

[:"green"]Kellie, regular scissors work just fine. (Just don't use your best scissors, cuz the plastic will make them a bit dull for cutting fabric).

Thanks Sue! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumb.gif" alt="" />
My husband just went to Home Depot to get some of the Plastic Hardware Cloth........I called our local store last night to make sure they had it in stock, the guy was like, what is it called, so I told him, then he said, oh like the orange snow fence? I said noooooooo <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shakehead.gif" alt="" />
lol so I went to HD's website, found the stuff and printed out the page! Should have problem getting it now if they have it in stock <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dance.gif" alt="" />
So today since we are suppose to be getting up to 12" of this white icky stuff falling I will have a project to do!

Those shelfs from petco are the BEST inventions ever. I use mine so they have a ledge up high for their water, and also as a ledge for their food to sit up high, since they'd rather be towards the top of the cage than the bottom. I just clip their food dish to the side of the cage as it rests on the ledge, and voila, a food station.
