I have no experience, but I have done a lot of reading. From what I've read, rope isn't a good idea because little glider claws can get caught in it. But color links you would buy for a baby are wonderful and cheap. You can definitely buy fleece to make your own things. I know on Amazon.com they sell parts in bulk to make bird toys for much cheaper than what it would cost to buy a single pre-assembled toy. Just make sure anything you get doesn't have small parts, toxic wood, or anything a glider could get tangled in.

I'm sure someone with more experience will be along soon with great advice for you. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

shower curtain rings that clip together are a great start for many toys. you can get them at walmart in the clearance section for 10 cents a set. can make bridges, circle rings and all kinds of cute things out of them with some fleece.
Look under glider things and see what other are selling and maybe pick up a few ideas there. salvation army and thrift stores are great for fisher price toys for the little ones.

Beads, string, and bells; put them all together, and what do you get? toys!

I suggest not using any type of rope. I have had a bad experience with my Parrotlet getting her claw stuck in a rope toy and chewing off several toys; well I was away getting groceries. (She had this toy in her cage for several months) I removed all of the rope from my glider cage. You can buy plastic links from Menards or Home Depot cheap. Also another cheap toy is barrel of monkeys. (Mine love taking those little red monkeys and putting them in their different pouches.) I also have made some toys using pvc pipes (jungle gym) Mine also love feathers, coconut fibers,
and straws from a broom. I also think Lynsie has some great ideas of cheap items to make toys.
Hope this helps

You know if you have a good will in your neighborhood or thrift store, they have alot of baby play houses and baby toys and other such things that are glider friendly, just make sure to read up on a unsafe toy parts list. But i highly suggest thrift stores n such, lots of wonderful toys at 25 cents a peice. All of luna's favorite toys are from there. Also a pringles can lined with fleece (no sew style) i made a tunnel for luna that way and she loved it.
