Does or has anyone ever used a plastic slinky as a toy? I'm curious because my parakeets use them to sleep in and get upset when I take them out to clean them. So I thought I'd get one for the gliders and see what they do with it. Reckon it's safe enough?

I would say for supervised play only. I would be concerned about them getting their tails tangled in them somehow.

I have had a plastic slinky hanging from their cage for over 2 years now with no problems at all, from top to bottom, and they love it..plus it looks cool. Not sure how their tails can get tangled, but I guess anything can happen.

I've left slinkies in some of my cages before!
I didn't really see them playing with them but it was a bigger one and it was always on the floor in the morning
They do look cool

ours played with it a lot in the tent, they ignore it in the room, hadn't thought to put it in a cage though!

What I do for my birds is lay the slinkies outside on the top of the cage and let them slide through...you can space them out enough so little toes and tails don't get caught. And I guess you could let a portion of it hang down so they'd have a springy part of it to play on. This also works good to keep the slinkies in place. I think I'll be stopping off at the dollar store for a pair for my gliders!
