I receive mixed info about oranges. I thought that you could not feed high citrus fruits to sugar gliders. However, I've heard of some people doing this with no problem.

Basic question, are oranges fed as occasional fruit only? Or are they to be avoided?

Too much citric acid CAN cause diarrhea... that's what I have always read here on GC. My girls won't eat them. LOL But they CAN be offered ocassionally if your chosen diet allows.

Gotcha, thanks. No, have never offered oranges, but have heard people doing so. Just wondering to add some more variety but not at the risk of their health.

Thanks,

Chad

Chad I offer oranges on occassion. My guys love it. Too much can cause diarrhea and it should not be fed to joeys.

My guys are on the Priscilla's diet. It calls for orange juice, and since I like to know what is in there, thy get fresh squeezed. shakehead the things we do for our suggies!

Once a month or so, I offer a small orange piece per glider.

Occasional citrus is ok (if it is ok with the diet plan you are feeding). I have a glider who's absolute favorite fruit is grapefruit, so I give him some once in a while.

Mine prefer mandarin oranges to regular ones, and they get them once in a blue moon
