Well, at WAGG, Suz mentioned gliders like milk jug rings but make sure you cut them because some of the "fluffy" ones can get stuck in them.....my son didn't get that memo but loves to have our glider pluck the rings from his hand when she's playing. This morning I woke up & Izzy always gets up to greet me for a morning treat well to my surprise she was running around with a little blue hula hoop around her middle!! I was so scared I chased her all around the cage because she thought it was fun & games which finally ended in the loop falling off her because she still is a youngster, 51/2 mths. old.

So this is just another reminder to everyone, please cut thru your rings before giving them to your little buddies! I even sanded the edges after cutting.

Nancy,
It was actually Bourbon who mentioned the milk jug rings as an excellent toy as long as they are snipped through. I backed her up by mentioning that my gliders sported pretty belts if I failed to cut through them tounge Glad you found her with her hula-hoop... Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks for clearing that up... I bought a barrel of "animals" not monkeys from our dollar store and I was going to give some to my suggie but I was scared that they were kind of sharp at various points... I may try to sand them down, or maybe I'll just try to find something else.

I never thought to use the milk rings.

We found the animals & monkeys are quite safe. Anything that seems sharp to me I keep a sturdy nail file in my basket of handy "stuff", to sand the edges down just in case. I sanded the cut edges now of the milk rings, ends of a silk vine stem & the glider kitchen doors so far.

There is notice somewhere else on the board about the smaller rings on toys that some have been getting stuck in to so you might want to check that out.

Here is the link to the post about the small rings you should avoid. They also provided a picture so everyone will know what they look like..

My girls absolutely LOVE the milk rings! Donna will work them down to her middle to carry them around and it is sooo cute! Of coure I snip the ones that aren't broken. Its a lot of fun to hang them on the cage bars and watch them scamper around collecting them too smile

my Ginger just doesn't play with much....I put all kinds of milk rings in, I have all kinds of monkeys...I have bangle bracelets...she just ignores them all...she never takes anything into her pouch...I put my suggie gym mini tree in with her last night for the first time thinking that she would tear the leaves and such off the ivy...doesn't even look like she jumped on it....some day, I will find something she will play with...hehe

Glaze & Raku both love to play with milk rings. Fortunately we only get the ones that are already split. Thanks for the warning!

During play time in the bathroom Naomie gets very interested in my hair ties, and will drag them around, never thought of putting split milk rings in her cage! What a wonderful idea! Thanks for the reminder, and the idea to the ones that didn't know. smile As soon as I get milk, I'll sand the edge of the rings and snip them and my suggies will have a new toy!

you can also take a bunch of them and make a split ring rope hanging from top to bottom.

they also fit great on the fru fru stuff.
