i always check their water and give them fresh water everyday. but i've noticed that for the past few days they haven't been drinking but i thought they were getting enough from their friuts (i thought they were choosing not to drink).
boy was i wrong. when i woke up Tiki was moving very slowly and did not want to pet or held at all. so i knew something was wrong so i started looking around the cage to see if savannah gave them something or anything that might be different.
well there was something clogging up their water bottle so i had to get a dropper and give Tiki water like that. he seems alot better now.
but that scared the [censored] out of me.

Wow close call. I better go check my water bottle when I go home. I do notice at times there is dried food on it from them.

Do you have any pedialite? When Layla was dehydrated we were told to mix peditalite and kerns nector or apple juice and give it to her with a dropper..

He must be severly dehydrated - suggest pedialyte mixed with water and fed with a syringe if necessary. Dehydration is often a signal that something else is wrong but the dehyd. must be dealt with first. I cannot stress the importance of getting and keeping her hydrated until you can get to the vet. You might even try going early as an emergency situation has developed. Please, please keep us updated!

PS - perhaps the vet needs to give a sub-q injection for help with rehydrating the little guy

Sabrina...
Well I don't really have much advice to give you since you have already done the most important thing and gotten a vet appointment. Just make sure he stays hydrated until you get him there and when you get there make sure to ask for a urinalysis and fecal smear and float. I hope everything turns out ok for this little guy!

if the vet can find nothing wrong (his neck doesn't form a tent when pinched) then i will blame this on the moon and the tropical storm we are having.

he isn't shaking anymore (thank god) and he is beginning to walk (slowly) on my back. i hope this is a good sign.

I understand your desire to blame something, anything - really, I do. However, if not dehydrated then something is very wrong and only tests will give you the answer. Let us know what happens! Positive thoughts coming your way from Bugsy, Rachel and myself!

ok my hubby just came back from the vets office with my wonderful and perfectly healthy Tiki.
Rodger said the vet did some tests (but he could not remember what ones) and they could find nothing wrong with him. but i will still keep an eye out for him. maybe he just felt like scaring me into labor.

oh and he wasn't dehydrated.

Great news! I'm so glad - but still think there is some reason for the shaking. I only suggested that dehydration was a prob. after you said the bottle was stuck but don't think that would cause the shaking.

Anyway - I'm so glad for all of you and hope nothing more happens to bring on early labor (unless you want it to, that is! )

[:"blue"] Glider Greetings:

I'm glad to hear that you little furbutt is OK.

For future reference, by investing a couple of bucks in another water bottle, you can greatly reduce the possibility of the recurrence of a clogged bottle by putting two on each cage.

What does he weigh? What type of bedding are you using? What temperature is the room? When I first got gliders I did not know about pine and I used chloro pine for a week. All my gliders lost 30% of their weight and one lost motor control, went into convulsions and died. This was due to the bedding. Are you using any chemicals near by? Just because the vet did not find anything wrong on his tests does not mean nothing is wrong. If he was dehydrated he could have organ damage. I would get a second opinion. Just to be safe. See if they can do x-rays.
