Ok...I didnt really know where to post this but since my biggest complaint had to do with the food these people sell I figured I would put it here...I was at an expo recently and read the ingredients of the food they sell. The first ingredient was CORN! then maybe 4th down the list was corn flour . How can they market something like that knowing it is not healthy for them? why not just make a food that IS healthy? They were also selling these babies and swearring they were 9 weeks OOP (not 9 weeks from birth) and they were TINY! I am not even talking small...I understand fully about different babies growing at different rates ...but they didnt look like they were DEVELOPED the way they should be. The faces still had that joey look if you know what I mean. Kittens in a litter will grow differently but their eyes all open around the same time. growth rate and developement are different. My two joeys are very differnt in SIZE but their developemental progress was within days of eachother. the joeys they had were comparable to mine when they were 4 weeks OOP...that's a BIG difference. so...educate me and criticize me am I being too critical of these people? Some of the guys there I met seem very nice...but what are they doing to sell their PRODUCT....I also looked on a review website and everyone I have done business with or talked to and like they have said were "bad" and they highly rated the Pocket Pet people and their other "sister sites" funny huh? I guess it just bugged me when I read the ingredients. corn corn and more corn. the rest of the ingredients were not much better. even the Glider Grub that isnt highly favored has a better ingredients list corn is listed as the 2nd and 11th ingredients (not 2 and 4)then they rated Exotic Nutrition as being soso. I have tried a couple of their diets and as long as you soften them with water or juice my gliders like it and the ingredients seem good (of course you still need the friuts and vegies and BML or whatever as the main diet...but the softened pellets make a nice snack to leave there all day to nibble)

You have found out, along with many others, just how terrible Perfect Pocket Pets is. They don't care about the health and well-being of their gliders. They just want the money. It's sad because so many gliders they sell are sick and die shortly after purchase. Besides the poor diet, they are inbred, receive no vet care, are sold way too young and (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets tells people to stay away from good sites like GC. There is someone here who is doing something to get them shut down. I'm sure they'll be along soon to give you more information.

One more Question...they claim to sell the boys already neutered. I couldn't find a vet anywhere who was willing to neuter before 3 months or 65 grams...I sure would like to know who their "vet" is.

I believe I read in another post that they were doing on-site neuters.

Mine came to me from (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets neutered. He was small enough to fit in the palm of my hand and my fingers close completely around him. I don't think he was 8 weeks at the time. I have been discussing this neuter thing with someone lately and it just doesn't make sense. If testes don't drop from the body until a certain age, then what happens to, say for instance, my boy who was neutered, entire pom off at 4 or 5 weeks of age? Does that mean the testes didn't have a chance to drop and he is still intact so to speak? The empty pom is what is taken off but the actual goods are left up in there???? Am I making sense???

I can't wrap my head around this!

It IS a good question! I would like to know the answer also!!! Maybe someone can ask their vet next time they go?!? If they ARE still intact then what happens if it's time for them to drop but they have no poms?

Back on topic... I have heard some bad things about (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets also! I can't believe they have been in bussiness this long with some of the stuff they are doing!
Anyone who claims they are an expert and says they are better than everyone else should raise a red flag immediatly! Most likely those are the ones that don't know what the h*** they are doing!
I really hope they are stopped soon! For the sake of gliders!!!

Some males will drop their testies early and can be neutered early. What can happen if the testies are still in the body (not dropped) when the pom is removed is they simply stay in the body. This can lead to other problems and increases the risk of testicular cancer.

Most animals that have their testies on the outside of their body (in a scrotal sack) and they do not drop, but remain in their body cavity, they are often sterile. This is because the body is too warm and kills any sperm that might develope. The animal will still have all it's testestron though so will still act like an intact male.

My horse for example. He is a "hot geld". One testicle had not dropped when they gelded him leaving one still in his body. He thinks he is a "stud" (because of the hormones) but he has little to no viable sperm so could not get a mare pregnant.

Thanks Dancing I was just going to address this issue. I have Patches going in for surgery to remove his "mia NADS". His surgery will be $500.00. I am ok with this because I got Patches from sterile lines and knew this could be an problem. I am sure (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets is NOT telling people this part though grrrr.

Cyndie, good luck with his surgery. Please make sure you post details for us once it's all done. Not many (none I personally know of) have had to have this type of surgery before.

Don't want to go to far OT but Patches is having the surgery because for 3 years we felt/found nothing when looking for his parts. Now 3 years later there has been a change and the vet has fond one of the parts. To me this means it has grown and cancer or not different needs to be checked. Nads removed will be sent to lab (Dr T asked me to do that) to check for cancer. If it is this will be a first if not I wont have to worry about it down the road. I have know this and discussed this at past SGGAs. I would not let anyone go explore or "dig around" to find the testicles but now there is no digging needed.
