I told several people at the SGR that I would post the pictures of the mill breeder that we found in Texas, but I am going to hold off on that for a few days. I think before I make them public, I should take them down to SPCA and see if there is anything that they can do to help. So hang in there.

This was just 2 days ago. Maybe she hasn't taken them to the SPCA yet.

To see the pictures that Anita and CKB took will turn your stomach and to here Dr.T say those were not the worst cases he ever saw was just heart wrenching. The pics made me gasp, and wonder....how...why....and what can we do....

There are so many that WANT to help, but really HOW do we help to really get things done is the real question.

Unfortunately these things do take time and in the event we can get help for those dog (and gliders) at this location Nita is correct in holding off on posting the pic's. Wouldn't want to give these people a heads up you know.

Good thinking - as soon as you turn them in please post so other members can see what a breeding mill is and maybe they won't buy from any of them except for reputable breeders -

It wasn't exactly that I was excited to see them I just felt that it would be educational to see what kind of places most mill breeders are so that maybe with pic help people can see the conditions that people like (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets have the gliders in that way they would think twice about buying these guys at fairs and such. I am all for doing whatever it takes to convince people not to support these places and if pics help then so be it.

So where do you see these pix at? I hate things like this, I feel that all mill breaders should be fined a lot of money and shut down.

I's like to see them fro exactly that purpose- since S.P.I.N. does glidr education, I feel that an accurate description of a glider mill would be something shocking enough to affect some of the harder-to-educate cases.

I didn't think there was much interest in this but I sure don't mind putting them up somewhere if ya'll want to see them. The pictures are mostly of a combination dog/glider mill. I'm not sure that GC is the proper place to post them because I don't know about the legal issue since this is also someones home. Since this came up a couple of the private boards have offered so let me see what I can do.

As long as you were not trespassing when you took the photos, it is legal to post pics of someone's home. If you were invited onto the property you were not trespassing or if you took them from OFF the property, again, not trespassing.

Also, GC IS a private board.

Ok, I will see if I can get them uploaded to photobucket later today and we can get them posted for somewhere for everyone to see. Some of them are pretty bad living conditions. I did open the door to the trailer and I snapped a few pictures before I realized that someone was actually living there. But we had talked to the person on the phone and she had told us to go ahead and look around. So maybe if I don't put up the pics of the inside it won't be too much of an issue. I'm sorry about the confusion. I just don't want to get innocent people in trouble.

You had permission to be there so not trespassing.

I don;t see anything wrong in showing, it can be something that new people need to look out for, are things like this. If someone refuses to let you see where they are housed, then that is an automatic red flag there. But if they do let you, and the conditions are like this, then obviously steer clear of them you know. If someone was living there, and you had taken the photos not realizeing this, as long as certain parts are blurred out, like address, names, faces (if you do not have their permission to do that) licenses plate on cars, ect.

I could be wrong though, but just offering my two sense.
I would definantly want to see photos. You see things on tv all the time, of mills for cats and dogs, and maybe sometimes birds, but how often do you see it for the even smaller animals and what not. They are just as important as any other animal in my book.

~~Yaniah~~

Now that all my children are older ( I had my own liter, literately) I am getting back into gliders again.

PM sent.

I wouldn't post pictures until you have spoken to someone with legal background IMHO...from my experience working with shelters, we are NOT ALLOWED TO PHOTOGRAPH animals that are other people's property until the shelter wins custody. Doing so can jeopardize the case in court.

If you are planning legal action, and I hope you are, I would not post the photos...yet...

Anita, maybe you can post them over on the Mill Breeder Web site for people to look at.

I agree with Jen. You should probably wait until you have had some legal advice before you post the pictures. While it is important to get the message out there you do not want to jeopardize any possible conviction of this person if you/who you work for wants to pursue a conviction. I've heard that sometimes if evidence is misused it can be thrown out and if this is what law enforcement is banking on to make the case you definitely don't want to jump the gun. I am not very knowledgeable about law so I can't guarantee this is right, I would just check first to be sure. You do not want this person getting away with these types of practices especially since they have two operations going on (a puppy mill and a glider mill).

Perhaps she should put them on photobucket, set the album to private, and those who choose to see them can view them via sharing the info in a PM... that way they are not publicly shown.

I've never seen pictures or been to a mill breeder, and although I'm pretty sure I could figure it out myself I'm still curious to see what a mill breeding facility actually looks like.
