Reptarium Questions #74861

I know there have been a lot of posts about reptariums, but I need to ask some more questions. I'm thinking about getting the 100 gallon one as a permanent cage for our 2 new gliders. The one that came with the gliders is evidently not tall enough. 1) How hard are they to assemble? 2) How hard are they to clean? 3) Do you use cage liners at the bottom? 4) How can you connect pouches, toys, etc. to the cage? 5) How well does everyone like them (as opposed to a regular cage)?

THANKS (in advance) for your help!

I would look at the 175 gal as the MINIMUM and go for the 260 gal if you have the room. Pricing can be very good at some of the online reptile shops.

1. They're easy to assembly.
2. Just unzip the nylon fabric outer and throw it in the wash.
3. I use the reptarium liner and then add newspapers and then aspen shavings to the bottom.
4. Zip ties or show curtain rings to the bars.
5. I like them A LOT. The gliders can run around the entire thing and any spraying or food throwing mess is minimized on the outside of the cage.

Just PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE look at the largest one you have room for. Again, I would consider the 175 gal as a minimum.

I suggest getting the 260 gallon.
1) It is very easy to assemble.
2) It is very easy to clean. Spot clean on a daily basis. When you feel it needs a wash, remove the cover and wash it in your washing machine. Air dry. Wipe the frame down while you are washing the cover.
3) I DO NOT use the SOFT-TRAY that is made for reptariums, because through my experience, the gliders will drop bits of food and waste inbetween the soft-tray and the mesh. This makes it harder to clean. I put a puppy pad on the floor UNDER the cage. I do this in case anything happens to get around the one I put inside. I check this one every couple of days and change it out when I feel it's needed. I then put a puppy pad INSIDE the cage. I remove the puppy pad inside the cage nightly, and vacuum the cage to get any pieces around the bottom bars. You could also cut several pieces of fleece to fit the bottom of the cage and just wash those instead of buying puppy pads. I'm about to go this route myself.
4) You can check out my thread I just got my 260 reptarium!, it has a lot of good pictures and information. You can hang things by baby links, plastic chain and shower curtain rings. String the baby links accross and hang pouches. Use plastic chain with shower curtain rings at the end to attach to the poles, and hang pouches from the chain.
5) I <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/heartpump.gif" alt="" /> mine!! You definitely need to get the 260 gallon!!

If you have a Petsmart in your area, they PRICE MATCH! Call and see if they have one in stock. Look online for the cheapest 260 reptarium (in an online store, NOT anything like eBay), and print the page off. Take this with you to Petsmart. If you don't feel like doing that, just order it from the online store. I was too excited to wait for it to be delivered to me. I wanted it then!! I ended up paying $96 at Petsmart for my 260 rep after taxes. I got a great deal!

where did you find one for that price. I am thinking about getting one but I cannot find a 260 under 120. If you can remember the site you got your advertised price from I would appreciate it. Thank-you

I currently have the 175 for my two but we are planning on getting a bigger actual cage once our move is over. I use two peices of fleece on the bottom to catch what falls and shower curtain rings to attach things. the pouches I have all have hooks that will fit on the skinny part of them so it works. As opposed to a regular cage, it depends on what you want. Because the reps can be hard to see through depending on the lighting.

The 175 gallon reptarium has plenty of room for one glider. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumb.gif" alt="" /> I used to keep two gliders in that size and they had plenty of room.
