Hi, my boyfriend and I are getting a male and female pair of gliders. I don't know if it matters - but the female has two joeys IP right now. We are first time owners, and want to put plants in the cage. We are making quite a large cage, so there will be plenty of room. I read on a site that you shouldn't put plants in the cage (even if they're non toxic), but we've seen photos of cages with plants in them. I was wondering what people's experience with this is. Thank you in advance for your help.

You may want to look in the off-site info section here on GC... there's a toxic plant section there that should help you a lot!

I have never put plants in my cages because I have read that the gliders will usually just shred the plants. I don't know how true that is but I know that when i put fake plants in their cages they did shred the fake leaves

I've never seen live plants in a cage..just the fake ones without any wires in them.

As badgersmommy said, what you probably have seen pics of are the fake plants. I have a couple of the fake ficus trees inside my furballs cages. They will tear them up, needing to take those leaves into their pouch or nestbox!! its really neat to see how they lay the leaves in a nestbox. Just make sure the plants you get do not have any wire inside the leaves. You can also get the ivy leaf garland to put inside the cages. Just be ready to replace them after a while.

Oh great! Thank you guys. I really appreciate it. I'm so excited to get my little babies this weekend. I'll post some photos when I get them.
