Has anyone here tried either of these with any success with a sugar glider (also what is the difference between them)? If so what dilution works best for Gliders. For a very long time now Boo-Boo has had an obsession with over grooming BJ's neck and once again I am getting close to putting them back together again as they have been apart, except for supervised visits, for months now and BJ's fur has grown back. I am trying magnet therapy too and they just got their CCMT Wheel. I have watched the overgrooming and Boo just casually licks away at the same spot on BJ's neck and BJ just lets him do it. They have been treated with anti-biotics, and been to many vets. Bitter Apple did not work, synotic did not work. Just wondering.
Thanks.....Pat

I have used Rescue Remedy for a pair that started balding, it seems to be happening whenever they have joeys. My vet Dr. Ness recommended this (he practices homeopathic medicine)

I had great results with it! smile I mixed a couple drops of Rescue Remedy in with their gliderade each day and their hair grew back completely! (Because of the high alcohol content it must be diluted) They are balding again now with their new joeys, so dad is going in fo a snip to see if that helps. Good luck! I am not familiar with the Organic Pet Calm dunno

I am not sure about prolonged use... I can ask my vet next time I see him. Rescue Remedy uses essences of some normally toxic flowers/plants, but my vet has assured me that it is safe. I only used it for a couple weeks or so.

If I can just "Pet Calm" Boo-Boo out and get them together for 2-3 weeks and he MAYBE realizes that "Hey, I don't have to lick a hole in BJ's neck-LOL!!!" then maybe it will break the habit? Thanks for your input :O)

I hope it works for you! Good luck getting the boys back together!

Another thing my vet said I could do is to put some lavender essential oil on a cotton ball in the corner of the room. If your gliders have the run of the room, maybe just outside the door would work for you if you choose to do this.

Pat is he trying to leave those little round bruises you see on teenagers necks?

I am surprised that Rescue Remedy is used for gliders! That atikff uses grain alcohol as a base. Itla like 90 proof! It works wonders on kids and dogs but something as small as a glider?

Yes it has a lot of alcohol, that is why I had to dilute it in the gliderade. It is 27% alcohol in the drop form.

This should of course never be used without the approval and supervison of a vet. You may need to locate a vet that works with herbals. They can give you an appropriate dose and time frame to work with it and tell you how to dilute it right. I am just sharing my experience with it, some members here cautioned me against it, but my vet assured me it was safe.

huh!By golly I learn something new everyday!

I think I was thinking of Dr. Bach's flower essences

I used those alot with my kids

Rescue Remedy is a paticular blend of a few of those

I have all of the essences and I use rain alcool to make custom blends

I forgot that Rescue Remedy is pre mixed

It is awesome stuff though isn't it?!

Erin and I use the same vet so I back all she is saying. Dr. Ness wanted me to try what was called, Bully medicine, another herbal concoction after Tira and Misu's incident, but I held off and never did use it. He might be willing to offer some insight if you email him Pat? I dunno.

To those casually reading this, please don't assume this is ok for your gliders unless you consult your vet wink as Erin said.

I want BooBoo and BJ back together!!!

Thanks everybody and yes Karin I want them back together full time too more than anything else. Jen (xfilefan) has used Richards with her glider Flip but I do not remember the end result of her use of it. I sent her a PM and I am hoping to hear back from her.
I will let everyone know what I find out and if I use either, how they work or not.
thanks
Pat

Pat, I apologize I didn't get the chance to respond to your PM...I was not impressed with the results with Flip. It sort of helped short term, but I was concerned with some of the ingredients, and also didn't know of long term effects in gliders...it just didn't seem to address the underlying cause-whatever that is. My next step will be to have her evaluated for hormonal issues.

Thanks for the info Jen. I don't know what I am going to do yet. They are together sleeping for the first time in a while this morning and I am monitoring them like a hawk. I will not leave them for the whole day, and especially if I am not here to check on them. All BJ's fur has grown back but I know it just takes a minute...

Have a great day everybody!

Pat, Boo-Boo, and BJ
