A rescue I took in not too long ago has been carrying a joey for a few months now. I just went to feed her and her joey isn't in her pouch, there's absolutely no baby remains and I can't find the joey anywhere!!! I'm so scared can someone please tell me what has happened. Can they eat their babies and not leave evidence?

If the joey was already OP and a bit mobile...is it possible that it may have squeezed through the bars of the cage?

I really dont' see anyway it could've gotten out of the cage. The bars are very close together and I've looked everywhere for a escape route. Are they that mobile the first night oop? If it is out of the cage somewhere, how long will she make it? If you have any advice plese write back because I'm [censored]!

I have mom and dad, they both left the pouch for dinner, mom was acting very skitterish and scared of me, I took all the pouches out of their cages, lookin gfor the joey but it's no where. There is no where the baby could have gotten out and I've looked through everything in the cage. Could she be hiding the baby? She had a huge lump and now there's absolutely none. I don't know what to do, I feel liek I shoudl be doing something but, I jsut can't find it!

Oh Jaimee, I'm so sorry. It sounds like they have canabalized the joey. This happens and we are left trying to figure out why. There could have been something wrong with the joey that only the parents could detect. Please don't blame the parents. They were only doing what nature tells them to do.

I'm so sorry, Jaimee. It does sound like Dancing's right and that's what happened.
Are you sure there's no place around the cage it could have fallen? Even though you're sure there's no way out of the cage, assume for a minute that there was, and look for it anyplace it may have crawled.

I've looked everywhere. The baby is just not here anymore. I don't get it, there's no trace of the baby, how can that be? So what should I expect now? Will I find pieces of my baby when it passes? I just can't believe this. I didn't want a joey but when this one was just handed to me I have ended up getting very excited! I was hoping it was a girl and her name was Ruth May... Thanks so much for your help!

A friend of mine called me last night and told me that her glider's joeys both disappeared without a trace. I am sorry for the loss of your baby. Much love and .
