Is it safe to use the manzanita perches that are sand covered in the gliders cage to help keep their nails trim? I have two stealth wheels in the cage and their nails are still doing a number on me! I also try to clip them with my husbands help but he's afraid I'm going to hurt them. I have these perches in my cockatiels cage and it works for them. Just wondering if it was safe for gliders. I would be getting them in a small size. I've attached a link which has a description of them. Sandy Perch

I thought the topic was sand covered peaches. I was worried there for a sec lol. but I heard someone say that the sandpaper is bad for their foot pads, is that right?

We use the sandpaper on the stealth wheel and it works pretty good. We clip their nails with the cuticle trimmers every once in a while if need be, but the sandpaper seems to take care of the sharp edges. My only question is how long is it safe to leave the sandpaper on the wheel? We leave it on part of the week and then take it off part of the week.

I leave my sandpaper on continously. However, I only have about 1/4 of the wheel covered. I replace it every other week when I throw the wheel in the tub with the rest of the toys for its major scrub down and wipe it off daily with a clorox wipe.
