Is it safe to use the manzanita perches that are sand covered in the gliders cage to help keep their nails trim? I have two stealth wheels in the cage and their nails are still doing a number on me! I also try to clip them with my husbands help but he's afraid I'm going to hurt them. I have these perches in my cockatiels cage and it works for them. Just wondering if it was safe for gliders. I would be getting them in a small size. I've attached a link which has a description of them. Sandy Perch

These are safe for gliders, however, unfortunately, they dont really work. A glider does not stay or play on them long enough for any type of real filing to be done on the nails.
You may want to purchase some cuticle clippers as these are very easy to use when clipping gliders nails. Also leave the sandpaper on the stealth wheel.

I thought the topic was sand covered peaches. I was worried there for a sec lol. but I heard someone say that the sandpaper is bad for their foot pads, is that right?

Direct contact with the sandpaper can and will mess up their feet, but on a stealth wheel, you tape the sandpaper to the outside of the wheel (the track is mesh) so that way only thier nails touch the sandpaper.

We use the sandpaper on the stealth wheel and it works pretty good. We clip their nails with the cuticle trimmers every once in a while if need be, but the sandpaper seems to take care of the sharp edges. My only question is how long is it safe to leave the sandpaper on the wheel? We leave it on part of the week and then take it off part of the week.

I leave my sandpaper on continously. However, I only have about 1/4 of the wheel covered. I replace it every other week when I throw the wheel in the tub with the rest of the toys for its major scrub down and wipe it off daily with a clorox wipe.
