My Poor Bailey boy was diagnosed with allergies about a week ago. Since about the only thing that had been changed was our laundry detergent I thought that maybe that was it, so I got our old brand and washed all his pouches & stuff in that and between swapping pouches and his allergy meds he seemed to be getting over it. But then yesterday he started sneezing again and got really itchy. I upped his allergy meds (still in the prescribed range as I had been using the lowest dose they told me to) and had him drink some of the new strength and then contacted my vet to see if there was anything else I could do. I also swapped out his pouches for a nestbox. He seems to be doing a bit better now that he's gotten some meds into him and they've had some time to work. So keep your fingers crossed for him. The poor boy was so itchy he was nearly falling off his ledges trying to scratch.

I gave him a second dose of his meds & the itching is gone & so is most of the sneezing....he's still a tad stuffy tho. He'll get another dose when I get up tonight and hopefully we can get him past this. I wish I could figure out what he is allergic to tho....I have a colony of unhappy gliders because I took away their snugglebunny pouchs and gave them a nest box.

Awe poor Bailey! Is it possible that it is seasonal? Maybe something that is coming in from outside.

Is he allergiv to the fleece it's self of the laundry detergent? Poor thing! Maybe you could try a non-scented soap. That is what my brother has to use, he breaks out in hives if it is any type of scented soap.

My cat has bad alergies, and when I wash her I use baby soap.. I wonder if you could wash the pouches and things in baby soap.. in your sink... Then you could weed things out to see where the alergy is comming from..

I would think that baby soap would be ok to wash pouches in, it is milder than detergent... any one know??

I'm really hoping it was the laundry detergent or the new meds my vet gave me for any sinues infection he might develop. They had me discontinue those today and only continue his allergy meds. He is doing alot better now. He is still a tad stuffy but the itchyness and constant sneezing has stopped.

I'm happy to say that Bailey is doing better. He is still a tad stuffy, but the constant sneezing and itchiness has ceased. We are continuing the higher dose of allergy meds for now and I will be calling the vet in the morning to see if there is anything I can do for the stuffieness.
