I need some help.... My baby twinkie has a issue with her eye. About 3 months ago the litle girl had a white area in the corner of her eye.I cleaned the cage really well and changed the pouch thinking something prolly irrateted it. It cleared u in 2 days on its own.....WEll it came back with avengence this time and has produced a ump in her cheek. I have had her on some antis for the last few days. SHe seems fine she still eats everything at night still takes mealies and is still the most hyperist glider I own...I have a vet visit tomorrow but I need sugestions about what this could be.

A white spot on the cornea could be a corneal ulcer. They are VERY painful. I don't know how the bump in her cheek figures in unless it's just massive inflammation in the area. I think I would try to get her in to the vet today instead of tomorrow. She probably needs some topical treatment for the eye and maybe some pain meds. Hyper or not, she could be hiding how much pain she's in.

When you first said

I thought maybe it was just her sclera (like the white part of people's eye, but you usually don't see it on a glider) but from reading the rest of your post, it sounds like something is definitely going on.

I tried to get her in today but without the $45 they wont see her. I wont have it until tomorrow. I was told it could have been a dry eyelid?
I am so worried for the little one.

It is difficult to make out in the picture, and PeeperKeeper knows about eyes…lol… I would say that if this is concerning you I would just drop in on the vet! Sorry I can not offer more info, hopefully others will be along soon to share more…

OK here is an update for tose of you who cared enough to reapond.
Twinkie went to the vet today and she had an absese. The vet was very nice and gental with her. She had to be put under while he cut it open and drained it. The puss ball was white not yellow, the vet said she was very good and very lucky. THe clavamox I had been given her till I could get her in helped alot.
Sh eis home now and doing fine. She has to take clavamox for 10 days just for precautionary measures.
She weighed in at 86 grams. He said her teeth were great and she was very healthy. SHe is recovering now and up playing around with Cookie.
Cookie came with us to the vet just in case. She was very squirmy wondering where Twinkie was. they are doing great now.
SO that is m yfirst tramatic vet visit and hopeully the last for awhile.

I'm glad it wasn't more serious and that it sounds like she will make a full recovery. Please keep us updated.

Judge not until you have walked in their shoes and lived their lives. What you see online is only part of the story.

I could have missed the pain

Sissy,
I am so glad Twinkie is getting bettter, you did great with her. It sounds from what you said that the vet was wonderful with her, and Cookie too. They are both such sweet gliders and so lucky to have made it all the way down here to you.

Thanks guys
Angie you make me blush!!! If it wasnt for you in Irving I would have had a terrible time getting them to me. YOu are the middle savior.
ANd Twinkie is doing alot better this morning, she is just as hyper as ever, and hated to have her face washed this morning.
SHe does however take her meds very well. I am very prod of my little girl.

Update!!!
Twinkie is soooo much beter you wouldnt even know she had surgery Her cheeck healed nicely and the hair grew back already. SHe is still just as hyper as ever.
I am so very happy I had you guys to help me out in this terrible time. I was lost and confused!!!!
THe clavamox did great with her too dint stop or slow her appitite. It seems to have helped tremendiously.
Thanks again everyone for your thoughts n this.
