I have these letter beads that I really, really like. They're small though, and that means the threading holes are really small. I could use sewing thread to string them into toys, but that stuff is really thin. I have fly fishing line, and regular fishing line that are really durable, but I don't know if they're safe. I can't think of any reason why they wouldn't be, but I just wanted to make sure before I put it in the cage with my babies.

Does anyone know if there's anything wrong with using it? Thanks. ^-^

I could be wrong so you may want to let someone else come along and answer too ( :
but... If the string comes unties from them playing w/ it over time or if they bite through it they could choke on the beads.
I've started doing all my beads on zip ties because I can pull them super tight and it doesn't break. Are your beads too small for that?

They wouldn't be able to swallow them I don't think, but they'd be able to chew on them. They're kinda small.

I personally would not use string or fishing line to hold the beads. If the gliders managed to tear the toy apart (and they are masters are doing that <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evil.gif" alt="" /> ) they could very easily be caught in the string/line.

I wouls wait until one of the vendors is one today and I'm sure they'll be able to tell you a better material to make toys with. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumb.gif" alt="" />

Would that plasticy craft string work?? It's not string I jsut can't think of what it's called, it's pretty thick and couldn't really get tangled around them, if it wasn't too long. Do you know what I'm talking about???

This fly fishing line I have is pretty thick. It JUST fits through the holes on the beads, and it's really strong. It's loose, and not as 'wind-y' as the regular kind of fishing string, so they couldn't tangle up in it.

And do you mean lanyard? ;o

I'd go to the craft store right now if I could, but we're having some serious money problems right now, and not only could my mom NOT get me anything, but we don't even have our car anymore. ;\

I'd get a job to help, but my mom refuses to let me, because she wants me focused on school. .-. If I did have a job, all my money would go into my little fuzzbutts, though, because I love them so much. ;D

I've used the plastic 'gimp' string to make all of my hanging beaded toys and its worked out well so far. It's in the playroom and they're never unsupervised though. I've used Pony beads and large baby type beads and they don't really bother them, but it might be a different story if they were in their cages 24/7.

I have made an new toy this weekend, and i made it with bookbindingrope.
is is extra strong, and is what i think szever then fishing line .i life near the sea and a bird shelter, and ik know that a lots obrd lose there foot, treu fishing line, so for me it is a big no.
the bookbining rope looks to me realy save, but i have put littel pieces of straws around it, so it is harder for the gliders to get near it.
