I just got thinking about this a couple of nights ago as I made up some scrambled eggs for my suggies. What type of cookware does everyone use? I was brought up on cast iron and now that I'm on my own, I'm working on seasoning my own set. I have two of each of the most common sizes as well as "normal" cookware (non-stick skillets, normal metal). Several concerns--obviously, they should get their own skillet that onions, garlic, etc do not go into. But what about iron from the castiron skillet going into their food? For those of you that don't know, seasoning is done by heating oil in the castiron and basically allowing it to absorb in. Eventually, you get a nonstick surface that last forever. Would the seasoning itself (peanut oil) be residue and potentially dangerous to the suggies? As I said, I do have other skillets, I just happen to prefer castiron whenever I have a choice (easy clean-up, can use any sort of utensil on it, etc.). Thanks for the assistance!

Suggies food (that is cooked) should be boiled as they cannot have butter, oil etc. Also, VERY IMPORTANT! TEFLON FUMES are DEADLY to sugar gliders.
I use cast iron here too. But for cooking things like chicken, eggs etc. I either boil them or use the microwave. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

You can scamble eggs for gliders in non-stick pans. I don't know about the cast iron, but I would guess that any iron that it might leach onto food would just be a minor, trace amount. I saw don't worry about it.

I'm not sure what to say about cast iron- I love mine and use it a ton, but I do the gliders stuff in the nuker since I have no other nonstick pans and wasn't sure about the iron getting into the food..

I'll have to try using the microwave for their eggies and whatnot. This was just one of those really odd questions that came to me one day as I was thinking how much I like using my castiron. One of my reasons is that I like the little bit of extra iron I get (especially being a female who doesn't eat much red meat), but then I started to wonder about them. And then...well, I kinda panicked and I haven't cooked in the cast iron for them since. Now, we're on to the microwave!
