It sounds like he may be constipated. Have you noticed he is struggling to go while he makes this noise? Is he drinking enough water?

He could have UTI. When gliders hiss while they are going to the bathroom it usually means it hurts or is uncomfortable.

My gliders make that same noise every time they poop. They are perfectly fine. I think some gliders just do that and it's normal. Of course noises can also be a sign of an issue. But if yours isn't showing any other symptoms I wouldn't worry. Mine are fine and they do it every time.
If you are really concerned you can always call your vet or take them in for a check up.
I checked with my vet about mine and he said they were ok and nothing was wrong.

well, he acts fine and he goes to the bathroom fine. when he pees he doesnt make the noise.

i was just wondering if it was abnormal. its not a very loud hiss or shh noise.

Has he been to a vet? If not I would recommend a vet visit just to make sure he doesnt have a UTI.

There are some gliders that do make that sound when pooing just because they do. I have one girl that does it every now and then but not on a consistent bases and she has been checked by a vet.

I would worry if it is constantly happening or happening while he pees too.

a vet check wouldnt hurt anything, to be on the "safe side of things"...
and if the gliders fine by the vet check then it's going to be something your glider just does..
Mine dont give me warning they are going to use the restroom on me, or at all.. they just do it, by lifting their tails up.. an I know its comming, an to grab a tissue.. but noises, always good to be really sure your baby is alright

Hissing while pooping could also be a sign of infected or impacted anal glands. I went through that with my Simba, he hissed when he pooped also so I took him in. A vet check is definatly in order when ever there is hissing while going potty. It may be normal for some gliders but they are the exception rather than the rule.

I do hope you take the little one to the vet, we should never take it for granted that we will find a true fix for any health issues w/this forum. everyone does look out for each other, but you will be told to go to the vet more often than not. these are very delicate animals we hold in our hearts, & they can be gone in an instant. maybe some are making noises when they go, but I would feel that it is something in the diet to make them do this.
just my opinion,though.

I just got back from the vet!! GOOD NEWS! He's fine. lol. Doc says since he is still so young it may be him calling to his mother to help clean him up or something. He said his coat looks great, he's not dehydrated, and his eyes look good.

He's growing at the right rate and we discussed his diet and that is fine too.

PHEW!! I'm relieved. He said as long as he isn't having trouble going to the bathroom or straining or anything like that and as long as his poop is not hard he is fine.

:] :]

Ps. Toby's first vet visit and he did great! He didnt even bite the doc. lol
