The smaller ones would be glider safe however they're too small for gliders. Unfortunately, their large 12 inch one, which is the appropriate size for a glider, has 2 wheels that turn and a glider could easily get their tail caught in it.

atticworx.com has glider safe wheels where the poo and pee can go through the holes and tails cant get injured on middle pieces! I did have a glider that I beleive hurt his tail in the small silent spinner a few years ago! Just my opinion and experience!

Thanks for the info. I've been looking at the stealth wheel and the shipping to Australia is more than the cost of the wheel frown

I'm also in a rural area and the only pet shop here has the silent spinners. Not worth worrying about though if it has to be a stealth then a stealth it will be! I might try and see if they can get them in otherwise I will just order from the USA and pay the price, better than little Gizmo injuring himself as he will be released back into the wild, I won't be able to do it if he has any injuries.

How do you think he hurt his tail in it? I'm just curious. I don't use one or anything but I like to hear when people have problems with things like that. When I looked at it I thought they looked pretty safe,,,at least better than a wodent.

I have 5 silent spinners and I love them. In over a year have never had a problem and they sure are quite! and when I had wodent wheels and spinners in at the same time the gliders always went to the spinners.

I do suggest checking to make sure the middle nut is tightened. I check mine every other day. And I will add I have NEVER had a problem with it coming loose, but I always check anyway.

I like the spinner so much, that I bought the really big one and added sand paper to it as a nail trimmer. works great and is quiet.

As with ANY toy or wheel or fabric or whatever you will always hear good and bad sides. NO item is 100% safe. a freak accident can happen with anything and result in an injury. wodents were considered at one time ONE of the best, but I dont like them much for a number of reasons.

hope this helped

if you google 12 inch silent spinner, you will find several sites that sell them. thumb
