Where can I get a gram scale for reasonably cheap so I can weigh my babies regularly?

I would think you could also try a cooking supply store -- I've seen Alton Brown on Good Eats using a digital scale that does English or metric for weighing his flour.

Bed Bath & Beyond has a good variety of scales. I got mine at Walmart in the kitchen area. It was $20, but I wanted a digital scale, they had the old-style ones cheaper.

I've got one coming from Wal-Mart, that I ordered online for $18.00 with tax. Should be at the store anyday now.

I got my original scale from WalMart - it was one of the GoodCook brand scales, but it only weighs in 2 gram increments, so it was not as accurate as I'd like. Then, when I joined Weight Watchers I discovered that their scale will weigh in 1 gram increments - much more accurate They are more expensive than the WalMart scale, but much better for monitoring your gliders' weights.
For joeys, even smaller increments are needed, so I ordered a jeweler's scale from Scale Discounters that weighs in 1/100th gram increments. This is superb for making sure your joeys are gaining each day, not losing any weight. For example, my Cleo was 20.6 grams on Saturday, but had dropped to 20.28 grams yesterday. I was able to see that minute weight loss and adjust her feeding schedule immediately to ensure continued gain If I had been weighing her on the adult glider scale (WW), it would not have registered the loss at all. Here she is on Saturday...

Note that the jeweler's scale is too small to use for adult gliders, but single gram increments are definitely accurate enough for adults.

most food stores carry them with grams listed on 1 side and ounces on the other - if not then try a store that sells nothing but food cooking or baking things - they are sure to have them -

Also any office supply store. They are sold to weigh envelopes for postage. That's usually where I go to get mine every time I break one.

Note that the jeweler's scale is too small to use for adult gliders, but single gram increments are definitely accurate enough for adults. I have a jewlery scale of ebay. I put a small critter keeper on it, zero it out and put the glider in the critter keeper... my adults fit and comet is around 120 grams! I love mine b/c it weighs in not only grams but 0.1 and 0.01 of a gram too... Comet was actually 119.8 grams last weigh in... So some do fit asults...

It is a Digital Pocket Scale... Accuracy: 0.1 gram/0.01 gram Capacity: up to 600 grams Weighing Modes: g, oz, ct, gn Takes 2 AAA batteries (I've had it for about 3 years and batteries it came with are still running strong!) Here it is with the box... Here it is with the small critter keeper. ( I weighed my daughters crickets b/c I am nowhere near awake enough to weigh a glider.) The critter keeper is large enough for me to put my glider inside in a pouch if I wanted too. Then I just need to subtract the pouch weight. It hangs off the sides but I've never have to much trouble with it. I give my gliders a mealie to eat while they are in it and it keeps they pretty still. I love that it weighs down to 0.01 of a gram, especially when I had a rejected joey... It was very accurate to document weight gain!

Thanks for the pictures. It appears to be the same scale that I recommend for weighing joeys. I never thought nor tried to put such a large container on top of it. I'll have to give that a try

this is unorthidox however when i needed one for chemistry class i got mine at a "tobacco" shop. Not a place i would usually be caught dead at however i was living in a small town and it was pretty much my only option since the school supply store was out and it would take till after the start of my class to order one. Price was very reasonable
