Ok so a few days ago while watching my babies I noticed that a part of Moons pouch was hanging out a little bit and I thought maybe she had been cleaning it and just hadn't gotten a part back in...but it's stayed that way. When I had her out today I took a closer look and it doesn't look red or irritated. She also didn't seem to mind me touching it. She's never had any babies and is housed with another female. Should I just keep an eye on it? Should I put something on it? I took a picture with my cell phone as my digital camera seems to always go dead when I set it down. If it's still hanging out tomorrow I'll try to get a better picture as I think she's had it with me messing with her belly today! lol It sort of makes it look like she has a pom, or a belly button. I hope she's ok.

If you are concerned, a vet visit is always a good idea to ease your mind. Females (and all healthy gliders) regularly clean themselves including the inside of their pouch. Sometimes they will pull on the skin of their pouch as they are cleaning and it might hang outside of the pouch opening. Make sure that the tissue is a healthy pink color, not an angry/inflamed red. Make sure that there is no swelling, bleeding, discharge or injury to the tissue. If any of these signs are present, she needs to be seen by a vet ASAP.

I think my biggest concern right now is it looks a bit dry. Not red or inflamed, but kinda dry. Should I moisturize it somehow?
I'm going to be watching it closely, but it doesn't seem to be bothering her at the moment.

I'm not sure if you should lubricate it? Maybe someone will answer soon.

You can apply a small dab of Vitamin E oil to the exposed pouch area if it is dry

I have a female whose pouch does the same thing. I had her checked by my vet who did a visual exam and swabbed the pouch (she was a very good girl for the vet!) Even though there is nothing wrong with her (did a fecal and urinalysis as well) her pouch still sticks out about that much. She seems to clean it, and it has not become irritated so we are just waiting to see what comes of it when she has a joey come ip (she is still pretty young). HTH!

Thanks for the replies! It looks the same today as it has the past few days, no irritation.
To make a human comparison...it sort of looks like a soft skin tag lol. But I know it's part of her pouch.
I might try the vitamin E oil and see if it looks less dry afterwards, maybe just until summer because it's so dry here right now. I run a humidifier in their room every night because when it first got cold and dry out her ears got a bit flaky, but having the humidifier fixed that. It's really dry here in the wintertime.
She doesn't seem any less active, she has a really good appetite and always has, no runny poops. I'm just going to keep checking it everyday. She will never have any babies so I'm not worried about her fertility, as long as she's comfortable and healthy.
