Today has been a tragic day. My sweet girl lost both of her baby boys today.

I am planning on getting them into the vet when I can to get a check up.

My question is that is there concern for mom since she is still producing milk, and the milk has no place to go? I know it's probably a vet question, but I guess I'm just sad and worried.

I'm very sorry for your double loss cry
In my experience, the mother will continue to produce milk for a few days and her teats will become engorged. Gradually, the milk will stop being produced and the teats will go back to normal size. As far as I know, there is nothing you can do for this in the meantime, but do ask your vet about it.

Thanks so much Suz. I will hopefully get her into the vet tomorrow. Now I know what to keep an eye out for.

From human experience, it is very uncomfortable. Try to put a warm wet washcloth around her teats so they can drain.. If they are anything like us, it is so very painful to be full..

Ouch I didn't think about that. I will go give her one now. She seemed pretty full already.

Poor girl. What a crazy few days for her.

Yeah.. Was excruciating pain for me.. The only real relief I had was standing under the hot shower..

I think the warm cloth is a good idea and ihad to do this once for carmella she did not loose joeys but weened them and i swear i have never seen a glider so full of milk! Her poor teats were hanging out her pouch. The warm cloth seemed to help and within a few days they were down alot.
Im sorry for your loss.

Excellent suggestion about the warm, damp compress. I will store it in my mind for future reference wink
